Danzig 12-16-2006 08:44 AM

Sightseek 12-16-2006 09:04 AM

We should start a thread, 2006 Most Memorable Moments (good and bad) of Kent D.

bellsbendboy 12-16-2006 09:13 AM

There are only five riders EVER who have a positive R.O.I. while racing on turf.

Two of them are Kent Desormeaux and Robbie Albarado! BBB

Had to LMFAO about the conversational spanish. We had a late running sprinter that one of the owners wanted to make sure that the rider would ride him that way and had a long conversation with the Subitute trainer (Our trainer missed the race because of the Northridge Quake), The only thing I saw was alot of bobbleheading from the rider and the guy saddling our horse. Gates opened and we went to the lead. I'm still LOL.

one of my favorites, holiday or otherwise. just watched last night.

has anyone ever noticed some of the faux curse words that the father uses when he is downstairs working on the furnace? A lot just sound like gibberish, then occaisonally there seems to be actual words. One that comes to mind, I swear he calls the furnace a "mundane noodle"

also, who could forget the playing of taps that was heard after the lamp fiasco.

great writing!

every part of that movie kills me. i bought the collectors edition dvd, and they have the now grown kids from the movie answering questions, telling stories, etc. the red haired bullly looks exactly the same!
i remember thinking 'you'll be sorry if something happens to me' about my parents when i got in trouble. lol @ soap poisoning. i keep planning to buy the book, hasn't happened yet.

when I was a kid I never liked the movie very well, but as an adult it kills me...
the 24 hour marathon (severe overkill IMO) will be on TNT (I think) all day on x-mas...so everyone should be able to catch it once or twice

Danzig 12-16-2006 10:41 AM

i never saw it til a few years ago. yeah, we've had that marathon on before, just to watch one running tho. i can't imagine having it on over and over. or anything else over and over for that matter.

Sure they give bad rides. They all do. But the way some tell it, they never give good ones either. And when a jock gets hit with that, they can never do anything right.

Its just like Gomez. We had one person on here that said he was "inconsistent". What does that mean? That he doesnt win EVERY race? He is the number one jockey in the country!

Kent gives bad rides. He gives bizarre rides. But at the same time, he give textbook rides.

A perfect example is Premium tap. Gave a great ride to get the horse his first grade 1. Any mention on here? Of course not. He completely blows the ride in the BC prep. He gets lambasted. Comes back a few weeks later and gives a great ride in the Clark. Any mention of the great ride?

Kent and Albarado do a fine job.

I can answer this question with two words:

Mike Smith

Me too, i find the entire thing solid beginning to end, hilarious as well as charming. i love the little soap poisoning segment when he comes back blind and the parents are so grief stricken. "i told you not to use Life Boy"

the funniest part of that is that everyone knows lava man is the worst. but then, i never cared for irish spring either.
and there were times that i knew either myself or my brother would be killed by a vengeful father.

i think i am responsible for a majority of my mothers grey hair.
