They would go through complete terror long before they die(that's especially true if they were killed for meat.... can't use poison.) What Mike Vick did is not the same as killing a cow. Slamming a dog into the ground can't be compared to killing a damn stupid cow.

i don't advocate eating rover.
but if the test for eat/don't eat is intelligence then pigs ought to be off the menu before dogs.
of course, most of us don't have a pig wandering around the living room so there isn't the same emotional connection.
we try to distance ourselves from the reality of suffering that's intrinsic in all meat consumption. is it really okay to eat cows because they're the retarded kid of the animal world? they deserve slaughter for their stupidity?
i'm not a vegetarian. humans have canine teeth (those sharp pointy ones 3rd over from the front) and their only use is tearing meat. cows don't have them.
i just know that along with millions of years of evolution resulting in a predilection to eat a varied diet including meat, my choice of which meat has everything to do with where i was born.
same with the dog eater's bob met.
all animals suffer at slaughter. cows. pigs. dogs. cats. horses. it's the nature of our world. no one is better than someone else because of the meat they don't eat.
