Dan Illman is bootleg as hell, couldn't handicap a 1 horse race. 2ndly, while you are right about Recapturetheglory's Beyer, I am guessing you know the WHOLE story about what is going on, like the fact that Louie Roussel has been real sick of years, and Recapturetheglory was 'thrown' into the Hawthorne race to take a chance, and took 100% advantage of a cooked rail job.

I still am laughing at the fact that you are listening to Dan Illman, and then using his opinion to back up yours.

Dan Illman has a f'n blog. 50% of america has a friggin blog

'bootleg' is bad?

Anybody here care to give Zito the credit he rightly deserves for x-raying something that many wouldn't?

And finding the problem before the horse blows the ankle apart on the track?

I'm wasn't pointing fingers at Zito, I'm not sure what a Trainer can do in these situations except run them once a year as Michael Dickinson does or not run them at all. That's not the answer we know... I did think it was interesting that is the 1st thing that popped into my head when I read War Pass was out due to injury. 3 horses with all simular profiles all have been sidelined coincidentally under Nick's care.

5) Bernardini

There are probably more that I am forgetting, but basically these subjects generate big arguments because there are certain individuals here that have very strong opinions either for or against these topics. Once they stake out their extreme positions, other people argue strenuously with them. In the case of Zito, it is basically just whodey taking every conceivable opportunity to take a shot at Zito. Add in the fact that Zito has some staunch supporters (and in some cases, friends) on this board, and you have yourself a recipe for acrimony.

Is that all... Not much left to talk about after that, guess I'll go to bed. Thanks for updating me though on these "taboo" subjects here. I wouldn't want to offend anyone. BTW Isn't this supposed to be a discussion forum? What's the point of coming here if certain subjects are off limits.

They're hardly 'off limits'.. It's just funny how those topics create mayhem.

What we really need are more posts and threads about what a lousy trainer Chuck Simon is. I mean, honestly, does he ever have a winner?

"Bootleg" is a phrase I wouldn't have heard since 2000 were it not for Scav's constant usage.

he said those subjects inspire heated debate, as in discussion. not that they are taboo or off limits. indeed those are some of the most discussed and debated subjects.

This is exactly the nursery school BS that has ruined the board this year. For some reason the newer members can't seem to post a contrary opinion without taking a cheap shot at the individuals who are responsible for DT in the first place.

Is it not enough to partake this free daily seminar in racing and wagering at times attended by racing personalities known and respected by the industry with no fees, commercials or limitations on subject matter?

Disagreements of thought do not license character assassination here lest we all be without the good graces of those that educate and inform asking nothing in return. Sometimes I think it might make sense to suggest people read for 90 days before they are given posting privileges rather than have them post this trash talking sewer speak 3 days after joining the forum!!

fpsoxfan 04-20-2008 06:08 AM

It's too bad about War Pass. Hopefully we will see him back sometime in the future. This was a fun horse to watch. War Pass not being in the Derby does take away from the race whether we think he would have won or not.

Well said doc. Everybody is a keyboard big shot when someone has an educated oppinion which is different than their own. Grow-up, read, and learn!
I have learned a great deal from the opinions of the well respected public handicappers and others on this site. The great majority of people are dissapointed when they do not contribute beacause of innane attacks from jealous anonomous know-it-alls. Please, if you have nothing to contribute worthwhile, say nothing at all.

pmayjr 04-20-2008 08:20 AM

Without reading 5 pages of argumentative banter (it's my undiagnosed A.D.D. kickin' in), War Pass is a big loss to me in the derby. I wasn't gonna play him, or Big Brown, but I need War Pass to keep Big Brown honest on that lead, to set up for some closers hopefully.

I know there's other speed, but War Pass had the legit speed to keep up with Big Brown and hopefully set a torrid pace doing it. I'm not sure how I'm betting the derby yet, but (about to state the obvious here)- Big Brwn has to be an include in exotics now.

I apologize if this statement is very redundant.

As Steve and Jim already said, it isn't about topics being off-limits. I wasn't trying to give you a list of topics that shouldn't be discussed. I was just giving you a list of topics that - when they do come up - are sure to lead to discussions that tend to be lengthy and lively.

Bigsmc 04-20-2008 11:51 AM

So, if Lost in the Fog, Bernardini and Perfect Drift were all trained by Nick Zito, who would win if they ran on polytrack?
