Would not have gone with that winner in sporting.

That was a really nice ESS - survived the cut but didn't get a piece of the group. It's easy to arm chair judge, but we're not the one in the ring getting up close and personal with those dogs.

That cocker has been heavily campaigned and advertised this past year. One of the favorites to win BIS.

Are you a judge? Have you ever judged? It's a whole lot different judging outside the ring than in. I don't necessarily agree with the Sporting Group Judge's opinion, but it is Westminster - there's a lot of paybacks and politics going on.

So true. Now go Alaskan Malamute!:tro:

Rileyoriley 02-15-2011 07:59 PM

Forget the malamute. Doesn't have much reach in the front end.:o

Rileyoriley 02-15-2011 08:05 PM

The boxer is another one that was heavily campaigned and advertised last year. Wouldn't be surprised to see her get the group.

Princess Doreen 02-15-2011 08:37 PM

That was a pretty nice "pile" that Judge Collier pulled out in the Working Group. I also liked the Siberian. The Doberman looked gorgeous on the stack, but the handler was handicapped by a bit too much weight and didn't move the dog to its full potential. Portuguese going Group I? Maybe she's looking for a trip to the White House.:D

Where did the St. Bernard handler get that jacket she was wearing. How embarrassing to be captured on national tv with a jacket 2 to 3 sizes too small and not covering up an abundance of "speed bumps."
Meow, meow! Yeah, I know - it's petty, but I can't help but comment.

Perhaps it was his markings, but that Smooth Fox Terrier caught my eye. He looked like Phantom of the Opera. Really surprised the Sealyham didn't get a piece of that group - what a resume.

I think another Smooth Fox could go BIS. Please, please, don't let that dustmop Peke win - please.

Rileyoriley 02-15-2011 09:26 PM

I like the Bearded Collie but I'm thinking it's between the cocker and the Peke.

Arletta 02-15-2011 09:38 PM

I am going with the Scottish Deer hound to bring it home.

Black Cocker Spaniel to come in second.

Smooth Fox Terrier in 3rd.

Arletta 02-15-2011 09:39 PM

The Peke is adorable though. :)

Coach Pants 02-15-2011 09:55 PM

I think the host just jizzed his pants.

Rileyoriley 02-15-2011 10:00 PM

I like this judge. He actually judged the dogs instead of playing politics.

(Less talking would be nice though)

Didn't see this but good call.

I wouldn't have figured an Italian judge to go for a hound - especially a Scottish Deerhound. There are no 2nd and 3rd place for Best In Show.

My pick would have been the Smooth Fox Terrier. After that, I liked the Beardie, the Cocker, the Deerhound, the Shar Pei, the Portie, and the Peke.

i've always disliked poodles, but that peke is a trainwreck. who ever thought a dog should look like that? ugh

Standard Poodles are a neat breed - nothing sissy about them and scary smart.

For the reason you give is precisely the reason I do not like Peke's. Man has interfered so much in developing this breed that they're basically good for nothing.

i don't like poofy dogs. give me a german shepherd, weimeraner, husky, or any working dog or terrier any day. a peke, or most any other toy-you can have it.
i was pulling for the fox terrier, but considering the age and history of a scottish deerhound, i was happy that one won. and thank goodness, not a poodle in the mix. some years, a couple of them invade the last round.
