Barbaro

Does anyone have any info on his full sib.

boldruler 07-10-2006 08:41 AM

His full brother was born this year and I believe they have him at Mill Ridge Farm in KY.

His half brother is with Matz right now at Fair Hill. He is a 2yr old named Man In Havana.

Didnt either Smarty or Alex have a full sib also?

I don't know. I could find out about Smarty but have no idea about Alex.

paisjpq 07-10-2006 09:56 AM

alex has a full OLDER brother who stands @ darley I think, name's Unforgettable Max. Don't know about Smarty.
Just checked not Darley. He's @ Stonewall...

Smarty has a full sister. She was born in 2005 in Ireland. Coolmore bought the dam at Fasig Tipton in November 2004 for 5M.

Wonder why it's not showing up on Pedigree Query?

Smarty has a half brother by Orientate (Speedy Jones) born in 2004. Wonder if he'll do anything on the track?

may not be named, and they often don't show overseas offspring.

It took forever for the nomination to come up on the Breeder's Cup site. Also, shes still only a yearling, I'm not sure if they name their yearlings right away.

Speedy Jones looked pretty ugly at auction when he was a yearling. Beau Greeley bought him for 120K at Fasig-Tipton May. I'm not sure what he looks like now. Edit.. I found the link.. http://www.finalturngallery.com/albu...ll_Get_Along_2

yikes!!!! my friend saw him and told me he was scary but she didn't do him justice...let's hope for his sake he was 'going through a phase'...not that that will change those legs, but real quiet got around the track on worse.

Society Selection 07-10-2006 11:38 AM

Yea, definately! Aside from looking pretty exhausted in that picture, he isn't the prettiest thing. I read somewhere that he looks better now. I'd love to see a picture of him.

paisjpq 07-10-2006 11:40 AM

i think he doubled his price when sold as a two-year old so he must have improved some...also in his yearling pic he just doesn't look well prepared...coat has no bloom and he's got hay belly...who consigned him?
nevermind I just looked it up myself...

Cajungator26 07-10-2006 11:59 AM

Smarty isn't a good looking horse either IMO. I wouldn't pay 100 grand to breed to him, that's for sure. (Small eyes and crooked to boot.) This colt might look better now...

paisjpq 07-10-2006 12:06 PM

best line I heard about smarty was when a friend of mine went to see him @ three chimney's and she said she wouldn't send a mare to him because it 'looked like both his front legs came out of the same hole'

Easy on the Three Chimney horses. ;)

I'm not going to lie. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't pay that kind of money to breed to a horse that looks like that. Bad idea to pass on those kind of genetics. JMO... (and I'm entitled to it. ;) )

If you got a chance to take a close look at him you might change your opinion. It is hard to spend that type of money on any unproven stallion, but he has the dirt and the turf breeding.

I'm aware of his bloodlines, but I feel the way I do strictly because of his conformation faults. I feel exactly the same way towards Storm Cat. I am more impressed with straight legged, sound horses. Let's see how his babies turn out. That will be the real indicator.

blackthroatedwind 07-10-2006 12:31 PM

Smarty Jones? His foals are genetically inclined to be massively overrated.

lemoncrush 07-10-2006 12:40 PM

Afleet Alex had a full brother and sister who both used to run at Canterbury Park and Tampa Bay Downs.
I believe Alex was a Northern Afleet colt out of Maggie Hawk, correct?'

Both Afleet Angel and Native Hawk had the same parents.
Both had somewhat short, but successful careers (although at a much lower level than Afleet Alex did).
I believe they would be 5-yo's this year, and I assume they are retired as neither has raced in over a year, and once AA became huge, their connections probably figured to cash in, if they could.
