lou pinella will be new yankee manager
joe will be fired. maybe he gets himself a few more horses.
|
No, I think Joe stays for one more year at least or retires sometime during next season because a health reasons (from the BOSS!). The BOSS would make a grave mistake with the Yankee faithfully if he fired him now. I think Joe Giradi will be the next Yankee manager.

it's a done deal, from what I hear
|
It's meaningless. They need pitching.
|
i met Sweet Lou once, he said "hey kid thats juniors hamburger, and your eating Vince Coleman's fries, get the hell out here"

The Yankees got old right in front of our eyes. They are not really that deep in minor league prospects and have given up so many draft picks signing free agents that they are really in trouble. Shefield, Giambi, Bernie, Posada, Matsui, Unit, Mussina, Mariano, Damon are all on the downside of their careers. Jaret Wright is not a good pitcher, the bullpen is a mess outside of Proctor who was overused because everybody else stinks. Mariano is strictly a one inning guy who lost velocity (K rate was way down, bad sign) Jeter has some prime years left and Cano should continue to develop (though he is very mediocre in the field). Posada is only a 110 game guy if he is going to remain effective as he gets into his later 30's. Wang's a nice pitcher but outside of Hughes there are no more Major league ready pitchers in that system. They will most likely go hard after Zito but I believe that there is a question of whether he is a NY guy. This is a team with huge issues along with an ungodly amount of money owed to guys that simply can't get it done anymore.
As for Arod, who'll take the salary, except red sox and you know THAT wont happen and even if you do get rid of him, who are you going to get to replace him? Joe Randa? |
lou says he knows nothing about it, that he wasn't contacted. but also asked that they pass on to the yanks his hat size! 7 and something inches.
|
Anyone still think the best offensive lineups can overcome mediocre pitching? Case closed. Still I thought mediocre pitching could get them farther than a terrible effort losing 3 straight to Detroit, a team that limped into the playoffs.

Getting rid of Torre just doesn't make sense to me. Who's going to do a better job handling a team of all-stars(some with the egos to match)? It's clear the real problem was a lack of pitching(mostly starting pitching). They should unload Sheffield, A-Rod and maybe trade one other outfielder for some quality starters. (they should drop Mussina, Unit, Wright and Pavano in favor of some younger blood) I know it won't all happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if half of the above does.
|
Great pitching always beats great hitting! It's not Torres' fault...he didn't buy the players in the lineup. Nobody else will take Georges' crap for twice that price! And the media needs to be muzzled in NY...they way they treat people...

I wish they would make a decision either way and stop talking about it. Its all ESPN has been talking about since the Yankees lost on Saturday. Enough already.
