Sorry man i thought this was Fat chick award & i was gonna protest as i have done afew FC ssssssss in my time

I'm afraid Americans are more concerned with feelings than facts at this time. I also think we should not talk in billions or trillions anymore but keep it in the millions so people can understand. Kind of like putting calories and fat content on everything we eat so we know there's a lot of calories in ice cream etc.

AIG executives received 167 million in bonuses split 70 ways or roughly a $2.4 million average. AIG as a company recieved $180,000 million and gave Goldman Sachs 12,000 million. People can understand $2.40 v. $180,000.00 but not when you deal in billions and trilions. To me going after AIG execs is like going after a cab driver who got a fat tip after driving away from bank robbery and forgetting about the money that's gone and how it went missing.

SOREHOOF 03-25-2009 02:29 PM

People better start trying to understand. Govt depends on the stupidity of Americans!

I guess the only answer I have is that the last 8 years is a perfect example of that

a far better example is the popularity of 'Dancing with the Stars' and 'American Idol'

SOREHOOF 03-25-2009 05:39 PM

That is so true. what I can't understand is why the left (not the crazy way left) wanted to keep the last Administration accountable, maybe even follow the Constitution, but they follow this one blindly trusting whatever they say, and giving them free reign to do whatever they want.

Let's face it. Dubya didn't have much to beat.
He beat McCain, who couldn't beat Obama an unproven newcomer.

And before anyone gets real crazy about how the voters blew it in 2000 and 2004,
answer these two questions:
How did Gore do in '04 ?
and how did Kerry do in '08 ?
Like I said. Not much to beat there.

:) I'm glad I'm not a partisan ideolog. :tro:

Kerry was weak, but I still think Gore would have been a great President..

and huh? Gore won in 00 and '04 was...well..interesting

Yeah..but imagine if they had picked Edwards?

And I'll stand by Gore all day...whatever

SOREHOOF 03-25-2009 05:53 PM

Believe it or not I'd vote for Edwards over Kerry. I'd vote for Al Sharpton over Gore.

I'm tired of discussing politics. If I am wrong so be it. If I am right our country is screwed. At least in the sports section we know who wins and loses and it rarely personally effects our lives. (except for the Dodgers and Scuds)

This won't completely kick the legs
out from under your worldview chair?

We are all in this together. I dont want it
to fail. You think it will fail. (I dont know, but I am
very worried). Some want it to
fail because everything they believe in will be
turned on its head, and they cant handle that.

If I am wrong then we will all prosper and the world will be a better place. Somehow I doubt that will happen...

The thing worries me is politicians have gotten very good at disguising agendas and manipulating the publics view. The entire teleprompter deal while it seems like a minor detail shows that Obama as a politician wants to carefully craft a message instead of talking plainly and explaining his position and th reasoning behind it. The democrats have a clear agenda to use the economic problems to further their socialistic views. They are hardly even trying to hide it but some people are so caught up with the Celebrity in Chief and his perfect speech patterns that they are believing what they are hearing instead of what is happening. Maybe a lot of people believe in a more socialist system though I find that hard to believe. The hardline being sold to the general public is that they are being screwed by the rich and the Democrats are going to punish them for doing so. The public doesnt realize that in doing so many of our traditional values are going to be trampled on. The world is a tough place. Peace, love and happiness cant be legislated by Congress. But they are selling it as such. And too many people are still buying it.

It is being done and it is not helpful.
