2/20 (AQU 2nd): Lloydobler #5

1m MSW goes as Saturday's 2nd... Overnight not out yet, but LLOYDOBLER drew #5 in a field of 9 that features 2 entries (Fox Ridge and Repole). He'll leave from the 6 as Migliore is double-named on both ends of the Pletcher-Repole entry. Chucky Lopez back aboard. More after the entries and PP's post.

pmacdaddy 02-17-2010 12:20 PM

Awesome! Anxious to see the PP's.

Not a soft field, but if we get pace, he stands a big chance here IMO!

What sort of Beyer did Rule By Night get in Lloyd's debut?

Interesting that Comical, Winaholic and Lloyd all ran into pretty serious runners in their last race debuts. Tempted to Tapit, Eightyfiveinafifty and Rule by Night, respectively.

Hopefully we will be adding Lloyd's name to this list after Saturday! :D

AeWingnut 02-17-2010 03:47 PM

I'll be surprised if Harold goes off 10-1 or even 8-1

I promise not to mush

Good luck

From DRF Closer Look, Ron Gierkink:

Lloydobler
Chased a four-horse speed duel on the backstretch before rallying wide for second behind the favorite on an inside-biased track in his solid debut; the 8th horse from that dash subsequently won a maiden special at Laurel; son of classic winner Smarty Jones is out of a stakes-placed route winner who's thrown five route winners on the main track from seven starters; shouldn't mind the move to a mile.

The 4 adding blinks may very well leave, one of the Kelly entry adding blinks may as well, the 7 is very likely to show speed and I wouldn't be surprised if Comical tries to wire the field. Ideally, they will all try for the top and give us a solid pace to run at.

Hickory Hill Hoff 02-20-2010 08:41 AM

Good luck to the "Lloydster" today.....have a safe trip & make us proud! :)

Yeah. Very rank heading into the first turn, probably cost him a lot of late energy.

hoovesupsideyourhead 02-20-2010 12:05 PM

well hope hes ok tough group to start with then cc on the pace ..would have suited him best to come from off of it imo

mes5107 02-20-2010 12:08 PM

Looked pretty much impossible to take him off the pace today

Pretty much. CC tried, but Lloyd wanted to go.

I realize it is only the second race of the day (so it is obviously tough to judge how fast the race was at this point) but 1:37.64 is pretty fast for this level isn't it? They have been running 1:39+ almost all week, including Greatsilversaint who ran pretty well a couple of days ago.

I'm sure you guys are a little disappointed with 5th, but I think it looks like your boy has some real talent. I look forward to watching his future efforts, and wish the best of luck to you guys with him going forward.

pointman 02-20-2010 12:48 PM

He was very rank early. Chuckie said he wished he had an excuse, but he just was empty on the turn. Hopefully he comes out ok and didn't bleed, hopefully he just used himself up fighting early.

pointman 02-20-2010 01:03 PM

Just saw Gary, Lloyd came out ok. Track is looking like it is favoring inside speed today after another wire job.

Well as long as he came out of the race ok. Just chalk it up to a learning expierence for him. But it was clear that he wanted to go and that Chuckie was fighting him. Better luck next time gang.

For what's it worth, he looked like a million bucks on TV.

my miss storm cat 02-20-2010 01:45 PM

Glad he came home safe.

Next time!

Princess Doreen 02-20-2010 01:52 PM

Happy to hear he's okay. Better luck next time. Still love you, LD.:{>: Thanks, Steve, Gary, and Paul.
