Wow ... the morning line favorite is 0-for-5 lifetime on synthetics ... four of the five defeats coming in maiden races ... and the other a last place finish in a 9 horse field in a Sunshine Millions race.

When you're last two efforts on synthetic are a 5th beaten 11 lengths in a MSW race - and a 9th place finish behind Bold Chieftan and Palladio .. you shouldn't be favored to win the Pacific Classic.

Coach Pants 08-25-2010 07:40 AM

Looks like one of the greatest Pacific Classics evar!

The sissies were right to sit this one out and run in the Secret.

Seattleallstar 08-25-2010 01:25 PM

yet the spineless connections of Zenyatta wont run her here or go get RA back east, freakin unreal

horse racing sucks in the 21st century........I have come to accept it.

Indian Charlie 08-25-2010 02:07 PM

You rachel lovers are all Z haters.

She can do something never done before, namely, win a race named after herself.

How can you not understand the glory in this? This will surely stamp her as an all time great.

It's sad that you Z haters just can't appreciate her for what she is.

Pedigree Ann 08-25-2010 04:26 PM

Actually, I think Petty Officer (GB, 1967) won the race that was renamed for him after he won it a few times.

randallscott35 08-25-2010 04:27 PM

There are bad Grade 1 fields, and then there is this.

this field is so bad that the grading commission for races would be justified in making this into a grade 3

eajinabi 08-25-2010 06:20 PM

What do you guys want? A race with 4 entries so that you could sit in the granstand munching popcorn as a spectator waiving your Go Zenyatta banners?. Its a great betting race. Too bad the countries best cant make it to the Pacific Classic but thats why there is the Breeders Cup.

Didn't see your horse, RA, in the Apple Blossom or the Whitney. What's her excuse?

Im a Zenyatta fan NOT AN RA fan, notice I said the connections NOT the horse. I love Zenyatta but we are getting ripped off by her connections. RA isnt there cause she obviously isnt good enough or ready to run the race.
Contrary to popular belief Zenyatta has everything to prove in beating RA on a real dirt track

Wasn't ready for the AB, obviously. As far as the Whitney, way over her head at the time, also way more difficult race than anything Z or Rachel has faced yet.

Hey Guano,

Do you ever have an opinion about a race before the fact, look at the title of the thread. What does this have to do with the Pacific Classic discussion?

RockHardTen1985 08-26-2010 08:39 PM

If anyone was wondering....
I will be picking the Classic 2,4,7 in some order, with the 4 likely being 3rd.

Coach Pants 08-26-2010 08:57 PM

Can't believe this is a grade 1.

Battle of Hastings I guess. Just horrible. God awful.

Rileyoriley 08-26-2010 09:01 PM

2 Isle of Giant's :)

I think this Giants Causeway claimer has a legit shot. Check out the likely pace sceniro.

clyde 08-26-2010 09:03 PM

What's worse than this race ( oh, hi Debbie) are these posts.

I would if he was trained by a juicer. Cecil is just horrible. Either he's as honest as they come or retarded.

Isn't Temple City going to hamper his chances a bit? As much as I'd like to see a horse win the Pacific Classic 3 races after winning a 25k claimer, he seems outmatched in there.

I want no part of The Usual QT or Awesome Gem. Hold Me Back is interesting and I think he's going to hit the board. I'm between Hold Me Back, Battle of Hastings and I think Crowded House is interesting at a price.

Hold Me Back and Richard's Kid are the only two horses that don't have major flaws in my opinion. From memory because I haven't looked at PP's

1) I think I heard Mullins was O-fer the meet today, all eyes must be on him, No
2) Didn't quit last time but no thank you
3) No
4) Need 7 turns
5) No
6) Win over surface and distance
7) Same as 6 although not the specific Del Mar surface
8) No idea who he even is
9) Trip of a lifetime last time
10) Drugs already talked about him 0-fer

Even though 3 back Temple City went very fast early, look at his last 2 races. He is out there crawling. Plus look at the jock, then think about the Rail Trip debacle. I think Isle of Giants has to clear early from the inside with P Val... Maybe he runs away from them, kinda like Mast Track.

Richards Kid is clearly trained by the GOAT 1.....
He can win, but something IMO is not right with him. Maybe the Dubai trip?

I hear you. I don't think Temple of City is going to be dueling with Isle of Giants, because of who is riding him as you said. But he'll be close enough. I just don't know if I want a front runner going 10 furlongs on that track. He should be a price at least.

Guano? I'm curious as to how you came up with a term meaning bat excrement as a nickname for me.

To answer your question however, which to most people is entirely obvious, is that your Beloved is dodging this scary race, which was mentioned previously in this thread. I was giving you justification for skipping this race and pointing to the Zenyatta stakes.

Please tell me you really aren't that dumb though and were just teasing me.

If that joke of a track is playing like it did today, Isle of Giants has a good shot tomorrow.

I think Giant's Causeway himself would have a legit shot in this race. Even at 13 and off a 10-year layoff. He'd have to be at least second choice. He's won as many times on the synthetic as the favorite right?

RockHardTen1985 08-28-2010 06:26 PM

How about Baffert at 7-1 for the kid?
Got some nice things going to 2,4,7.
