Baffert told Jeff Siegel that Fed Biz tied up over the weekend. Looks like Sunland Derby for him.

HaloWishingwell 03-07-2012 03:44 PM

thanks

I think CC towers over this field

Kasept 03-07-2012 04:16 PM

Jack Carava told HRTV American Act is 50-50 to run in San Felipe. The Sunland Derby is the other option.

I dont think he makes an impace in here. Disapointed that Fed Biz is out. Ill take Midnight Transfer and Bodemeister, one of them will win.

lemoncrush 03-07-2012 06:05 PM

Tough job for Jon White to make the morning line on this one. Someone is bound to get lost on the board like I'll Have Another did in the last race.

How low can Midnight Transfer be? I think he gets lost.

helicopter11 03-07-2012 09:48 PM

Interesting Rosario chose to ride Creative Cause rather than Midnight Transfer. MT is the better horse IMO.

Midnight Transfer took 4 tries to graduate, nothing in his maiden win came back to do anything, he was all out to be a starter allowance horse in his latest, is stretching out for the first time, and has the pedigree of a miler at best.

lemoncrush 03-08-2012 08:08 AM

Wasn't the San Felipe Premier Pegasus' coming out party last year?
I'm not saying Groovin Solo is in the same class, but Mr. Cho put two nice works into him, blinkers off and a positive rider switch.

He should be a huge price.

Yeah I don't really get the Midnight Transfer love myself. I was not thrilled with Creative Cause's comeback, but I actually think he wins this race.

Not to mention how atrocious that maiden field he beat on opening day turned out to be. That was supposed to have numerous good horses moving forward. Just over two months later, they're all still maidens, and the best finisher to return lost at OP at even money in his next start.

I actually agree here. I think Groovin Solo could run a big race in this spot.

Jack Carava tells @HRTV he is inclined to run American Act in San Felipe rather than the Sunland Derby after watching him train this a.m.

Kasept 03-08-2012 12:53 PM

1 - Blingo (8-1)
2 - Bodemeister (3-1)
3 - American Act (8-1)
4 - Midnight Transfer (6-1)
5 - Groovin' Solo (20-1)
6 - Liaison (6-1)
7 - Creative Cause (5-2)
8 - Rousing Sermon (8-1)
9 - Tiz Point (20-1)
10 - Empire Way (6-1)

He'll be 5/2 by the time Casino unloads on him.....

Perrault Robbed 03-08-2012 07:13 PM

I think American Act wanted nothing to do with sprinting and has a big look Saturday. I was a little disappointed in his effort the other day considering he got such an easy lead, but he galloped out real well (as did CC). I think he might go off at double digits and has good a chance as any. Glad to hear Carava changed his mind. CC, Liason, and Groovin Solo would be my inclusions on a spread Pick 4.

I think he'll stretch out, but in this particular race, it seems likely he'll be hounded by both Bodemeister (who hounded him going 5.5f in January) and Midnight Transfer who is stretching out and has been showing good early speed in several fast paced sprints.

It could be another meltdown similar to last year, when Comma To The Top, Albergatti, and Runflatout went nuts on the front end.

tjfla 03-09-2012 12:57 PM

Thanks for the odds Steve-couldn't find them anywhere

I hope AA runs, least he will put some pressure on Bodemeister

goodcopy 03-09-2012 08:26 PM

Bodemeister dominates

:eek:Bodemeister dominates, wins in hand and goes on to win the Santa Anita Derby by 5 lengths in record time, then goes to the Kentucky Derby as the .3rd choice and wins by 8 in 1:59 .4,then goes on to triple crown fame win he wins the crown with two dominating wins at the Preakness and Belmont, the first since Affirmed another west coast based colt

Affirmed began and ended his career in NY. He did winter in CA at 3 and 4, though.

Kasept 03-10-2012 09:34 AM

American Act will run says HRTV..

Pedroza would have ridden Tiz Point if AA had come out. Mandella needs to find new jockey.

What part of The West Coast is New York?

Just a bad joke love all racing everywhere :)

Hoist Her Flag 03-10-2012 03:02 PM

Leaning to Rousing Sermon to improve in here. Never really fired last time. Gets pace to run at and sharp works. Might sneak up to 8-1 or so. Liason and Midnight transfer box with him.

RockHardTen1985 03-10-2012 03:36 PM

Im pressing the 2,4... I think they will be the best now moving forward especially. BUT, Liason is dangerous if taken back and allowed to make 1 big run. I would take him over Creative Cause at something like 3x the price.

Hard race. I can only toss Tiz Point.....It's a Jockey's race. I wouldn't take Creative Cause. On his good days, he's awesome..... On his other days, he's a punk. He won't fight.

I kinda agree with this, except for Creative Cause being awesome.... Hes solid, feels like slow and likes to plod. A Giants Causeway that will defeat me.

Put it this way....If Baffert would of had him, the horse would of romped in the juvenile. The trainer is just oooooooooooooookaaaaaaaay.

citycat 03-10-2012 05:58 PM

I'll take my shot with Blingo althought I think he might end up bein "grassy". Harringtons "other" horse, Empire Way, looks interesting too.

Liaison starting to look somewhere between Timber Country and Giacomo. Looked like he dropped back sharply entering the backstretch but finished with some interest.

Frankly, I was surprised to see him finish fourth. In the first 1/8th, I thought he was going to run about last.

The feed I had of the race was pretty useless, so I really didn't get to see much of him.

cakes44 03-10-2012 07:06 PM

I thought Bodemeister ran a helluva race.

He seemed to steady early down the backstretch, but quickly recovered and moved forward. He basically ran in spots.

There's no getting around the fact that the Hollywood Futurity just hasn't been a productive race. The Robert Lewis was a disaster, Brother Francis is still a maiden, and the first 3 home in the San Felipe had about 5 lengths on any starter from the CashCall.

However, it seems like Liaison can plod along for a piece in the SA Derby and maybe one of the Classics. At least he was running straight down the lane.
