Reality - or why this president will be re-elected
 
The president is not Muslim.

The president is a citizen of the United States.

This president is not a socialist, he is a slightly left-of-center technocrat that infuriates the left-wing because he actually mirrors Republican president Eisenhower's policies very well.

The president has not raised your federal income taxes, your taxes were cut and are at a historic 50-year low.

The president has not placed any crushing regulation on small businesses, the president has given small business 18 tax credits.

The president has not raised the deficit, he has cut the deficit.

The president has not increased federal spending, he has cut federal spending to the lowest levels since Reagan.

The president has not passed one new program or law that is not deficit-neutral and fully self-funded - nothing new on the charge card.

The president has not expanded the size of government, the president has distinctly lowered the number of federal employees.

The president has not raised the national debt with impunity, he has implemented programs that lower the debt over time, and has been blocked by the Republican party from doing more to pay it off.

The president has not implemented any regulation to take away your guns or gun rights, in fact he has expanded your guns rights by passing law that allow you to now carry guns in national parks.

The president has not overseen a massive government takeover of health care with death panels, the president has passed a historic law that expands your consumer protections for your health care, stops consumer abuses, and in fact gives private insurance companies more patients (this was a Republican-created law, after all, and this is why the insurance companies lobbied FOR this law to be passed)

This president signed law giving women the right to equal pay as men.

Reality is that the GOP once again ran an awful ticket. Obama is terrible but they have done a great job of keeping the spotlight off of his record and on Romney's shortcomings. Plus he is a good guest on late night TV and the View which to far too many Americans actually means something.

he is awful. so is romney. had the republicans managed to find someone with both a pulse and some ability, obama wouldn't be a 2-termer. it's that simple.

like jon stewart said the other day, obama is 'the luckiest man on the face of the earth'.

it's a shame that once again, it's a question of 'who sucks less'. i'm tired of having dumb and dumber to choose from in these elections.

which candidate from the available field in 2012 did you envision doing better than romney?

he's far from an ideal candidate but so long as the g.o.p. continues to view the problem as the candidate i suppose they'll continue with the angry white voter strategy that has netted them 1 popular vote win for president since 1992.

demographics is driving obama's win. despite a bad economy. absent a change in the republican message, how is 2016 going to be any different?

none of them. i said all along he'd get the nomination. he's an awful candidate, out of an awful group of candidates. and he's running against an awful incumbent.

In fact, Ron Paul is head and shoulders more qualified, and understands the constitution better than the two fools we have on top of the ballots.

Yes, the GOP ran an awful ticket, and considering their bench, they seem destined to run an awful ticket for the forseeable future. Not good.

No, Obama isn't terrible in the least. That's just what the Republicans can't stand the most about him - he's accomplished far more in 4 years than Bush did in 8 ;)

And in spite of complete attempted sabotage and documented historic obstruction by the opposition party, who abdicated their responsibilities to the citizens of this country over the past 4 years by putting politics above our interests. THAT'S why the Republican Party is literally breathing it's last right now.

That outright lies are needed to try and damage the current presidents accomplishments and reputation just shows how bereft of ideas and quality the current Republican party is.

That the current Republican House has set historical precedence, by accomplishing less and working far less, than the famous "do nothing" congress of the past, yet Obama is being re-elected, simply shows how the American public isn't all that fooled by lies.

When you are unable discuss the facts, always best to fall back on throwing personal insults against those that don't think like you. It's all the current Republican party, from Romney to Reince, seems to have.

Obama hasn't "ruined our standing in the rest of the world" in the least - that's such blatantly false nonsense. We are once again far more respected across the world, internationally, than we ever were during the Bush years.

He could have pulled at least 1/5 to 1/4 (if not more) of the votes at the convention this time around, and that's why the Republican party cheated and killed his candidacy.

I wish many of you guys were young enough to really remember the country and the world for the 15 years before W. Bush destroyed much of it. Some of you guys have no idea how much long-term, permanent destruction those 8 W years have wrought upon this country and the world. Nixon didn't destroy this country and world as much as Bush did - Nixon at least kept his disaster within the countries borders.

The party that is supposedly close to death is in control of the house of representatives and may gain control of the Senate or at the very least will be a seat or 2 short.

Obama being elected and re elected has far more to do with the stiffs he ran against than any accomplishments he has achieved.

because he's an isolationist, which the majority of this country isnt supportive of, even if its the best thing we can do as a country.

he's fairly extreme when it comes to conservatism, eventhough I believe he is extremely correct.. and it seems like republicans only want extreme if you are extremely religious and anti-gay.

people arent ready to give up their crutch, their government... we as a country have become WAY to dependant on government... people arent ready for a truely small federal government and more states rights.

Chuck is correct, 1912 is when Ron Paul had his best chance.

Personally, I'm ready to correct this bloated, nasty thing we call Washington... and get it mostly out of my life.

Too bad it will not happen. Government today is too big of a business.

Because he is a strange looking fella that has fairly radical ideas (compared to the typical presidential telling them what they want to hear) and wont either simply play to his base or follow the company line. At least Ron Paul was consistent and open in his beliefs across his career, and was a painfully honest libertarian (strange as he carried a few beliefs that are opposite to his Hippocratic oath and his actual actions as a doctor).

His son Rand, who Paul wants to inherit his base, is a shape-shifter, and quite unlikeable and angry. A dangerous man I want nowhere near power. I never had that fear about Ron Paul.
