Orb Breezes Half-Mile in 47.18 for Preakness; McGaughey Thrilled
“I thought it was breathtaking,” said McGaughey. “For him to go off nice and relaxed in 24 and change and come home on his own the way he did, and gallop out the way he did, and drop his head and walk home, it sent cold chills up my back.” Post-work video interview with Shug at the bottom of link. |
His sensory panel is out of whack and he's clearly cross-firing.
Toss. |

With Titletown Five in there to make life miserable for all of the tactical speed horses ... and with the defection of Normandy Invasion and now Orb coming out of the race in good order and getting a work in, the dice continue to roll his way.

What other point could anyone be making by showing that race? |
Titletown Five has had an excellent year so far.
* 2nd in the Gazebo stakes at six furlongs, had the lead the whole way and was nailed by a son of Henny Hughes late. * 9th in the Louisiana Derby. * 4th in the Derby Trial He makes the entry of Flying First Class in the Curlin, Street Sense, Hard Spun Preakness seem like a relatively logical one. After all, Flying First Class did at least win the Derby Trial by 4 lengths. |
what is interesting is Shug's comments, I mean this man rarely says anything boastful and what he said about Orb's workout was all we needed to know. He might have to have Orb into the race a bit earlier than he is used to, but he might be that pushbutton superhorse we have been waiting for.

It would be a beautiful thing if a horse could win the Derby and everyone waited to speak of the Triple Crown until after that horse also won the Preakness.

Instead of an answer, I was somehow mocked for being a "know-it-all" and posting drivel on Twitter. The real irony is that in a thread with both DrugS and I, that I got mocked for being a "know-it-all." !!!?!?!?! |

And currently suffering from a potentially life threatening/cancer causing (if you believe Golfer's links) infected tooth. Other than that, we are stride for stride in the Italian know-it-all department, in pursuit of the categorical gold standard Rock Hard Ten'85 Apparently, you got the worst of the double standard because Reese obviously has a heart and is rooting for me in my great health struggle of the moment. However, I'm sure a great many are rooting for the infected tooth to prevail in a swift glorious victory over me...leaving you to take up the running without me. |

I love tributes ...especially when they're for me. Maybe an Al Davis style helmet decal avatar tribute as well? That would be classy! But, of course, SAL instead of AL. |
By the way...can someone please send that Charles Ramsey character from Cleveland over to Rupert Pupkin's house.
I think KyRim has been chained up there for the last few years. And speaking of Charles Ramsey ... I don't want to get the govt conspiracy theorists crazies all riled up... but he sure looks a lot like the Katrina Looter guy: ![]() ![]() |
