7/13 (BEL): Pal returning Sunday..

Steve - Any updates on Pal? When do you think he might resume racing?

Kasept 05-15-2014 04:01 AM

Whenever there's a race put up that fits. Has been a little crazy that nothing has been offered.

Kasept 05-15-2014 08:23 AM

On a separate note... One year ago today~!

MY PAL OF PALS MDN WIN -- BELMONT (5/15/13)

Cuse Fan 05-15-2014 08:30 AM

Trust me, the occasion has not gone unnoticed. One of the most exciting days of my life!

Cuse Fan 05-28-2014 09:50 AM

Still nothing? He was one of Gary's better horses last year; it's a shame he can't get him on the track.

Kasept 05-28-2014 10:38 AM

As soon as there's a race carded, he'll run.

Cuse Fan 05-28-2014 10:50 PM

Let's hope it's soon!

Kasept 06-13-2014 03:42 PM

Entered extra Starter ALW for Wednesday but race doesn't get used; Brought back on overnight for Thursday though..

Cuse Fan 06-15-2014 10:47 PM

Steve - Didn't see him entered for Thursday. What's the deal?

Don't know yet.. Had Father's Day/85th Birthday affair with my pop yesterday and haven't spoken to Gary yet. He did say Saturday that he was going to have the vet look at the knee which has bothered him off and on forever. May have wanted to hold off. Will know more later this morning.

Kasept 06-16-2014 07:44 AM

As speculated.. Gary didn't like the way he came back yesterday after a blowout and held off entering. Said Pal was then much better today. Same issue he's had from early on with the knee.

Cuse Fan 06-29-2014 08:37 PM

Steve - Any updates on Pal? Injured? Still training? Gonna see him in the starting gate anytime soon?

Inquiring minds want to know! :D

Kasept 06-30-2014 05:34 PM

As soon as he's fit and doing good, he'll run..

Cuse Fan 06-30-2014 05:37 PM

Is that to say he's not fit? Still problems w/ the knee?

There's 'fit' and then there's 'race ready'.. He's maintained fitness but needs a series of days that get him race ready. Good news is that he's been doing well the past week and Gary's confident he'll be ready sooner than later. At this point, Saratoga makes sense, though a 7f-T at BEL (there's one on the 10th) would actually be ideal.

Cuse Fan 07-04-2014 09:25 PM

Great news. It'll be good to see him back out there.

This is not a real strong group. His best races certainly put him right there.

I suppose you are saying that he is not ready for his best though. Yes?

Hard to say with stop/starts in training. Distance and pace is the issue to me given that there's isn't a whole lot of speed. No matter what, it should set him up well for his preferred trip upstate.

casp0555 07-13-2014 02:21 PM

Safe trip to Larry and Pal today......good luck D-T!!

Good luck and safe trip to Pal and Larry this afternoon, glad he's getting a chance to stretch his legs!

There may be more speed than there initially looks. Rangy and Slamarama both have some pretty good early speed, I'm just not sure if Rangy can keep up with Slamarama.

Late SCR.. Dropped Mejias. Ran off..

Kasept 07-13-2014 03:04 PM

On the positive side, likely got his tightener via the chase and looked nice.. Fit and trim.

Many Others 07-13-2014 03:06 PM

Thanks Steve the track feed via phone had a nice shot of him being ponied back trotting happily but didn't have an explanation, oh well !

Kasept 07-13-2014 03:14 PM

Gary on way back to barn to check on him. Basically ran the whole Widener Course..

Kasept 07-13-2014 03:27 PM

Not sure Gary will want to send him 8.5f first back, but if he got enough out of today's excursion, there is a $25k straight claimer next Sunday at Saratoga..

Cuse Fan 07-16-2014 09:32 AM

Any further word on Pal after what happened on Sunday? Re-entered soon, I hope?

Looks like Pal wasn't entered in this race.

Cuse Fan 07-24-2014 09:38 AM

Steve - What's the latest with Pal? Any adverse effects from the "Belmont Breakaway"? When does it look like he'll be entered again?

Kasept 07-24-2014 10:10 AM

Had a cut underneath from jumping rail. With that 100% healed, he'll be here in a few days hoping to run the 2nd half of the meet.
