All ROI Wagers on the FINAL (w/ scratches) Top Ten Players go here . . .
See rules and what you can and can't do with your wagers in the BC Rules and Information thread . . .
1. Ruffian - ML 3/1 (Hot, hot, hot winner of yearly contest and best year ever for our Rocky Mountain High Fillie) 2. DonGuido - ML 3/1 (Thrives on Big Days, has won Gallivan Cup 3 out of last 5 years and may just sneak one by all again) 3. JolyB - ML 4/1 (The Professor, nuff said, not the best year for him but in my book he is the best handicapper here) 4. Real Quiet ML 9-2 (Sneaky good, scary good, can win when it counts and has won the Gallivan Cup before) 5. Cruzan 20024 ML 6-1 (New Comer but tough with obvious poise and tactics, maybe the wise guy pick) 6. ryonker ML 6/1 (Do not count him out, one of our consistently Best) 7. Criminal Type ML 8/1 (Unique, different, mindful approach to the game who can surprise us all when we least expect it) 8. Arletta ML 8/1 (One of the gang now, knows the score, has a knack and will stay to the end, be weary & may be the wise lady pick) 9. GotaDunQH 9/1 (Tough fillie that could easily get a piece if not win it all, has proved herself to hang toe to toe with anyone here) 10. AE - dapplehorse 12/1 (not a regular player but when she's in the gate all should beware) Scratched: 5. Albright Emmylou ML 5/1 (Can hit on tricky days, knows the horses for sure, if she's in the gate don't ignore) AE - Plenilune 10/1 (Not in the gate all the time but would love a chance to get in and show us all how to do it) |

Oh crap! I just saw that AE is a scratch!
In that case, I'll go $100 to win on Real Quiet. He was my pick last year, don't let me down this year RQ! LOL |
One of the reasons why I love the Breeders' Cup races is that it is possible to get excellent value on legitimate contenders who have been somewhat overlooked by the betting public.
In that spirit, I'm putting my bankroll on a few contenders who have lots of back class and are coming into the race in great form. Hopefully the late money won't destroy the price. $40 Win: Don Guido $40 Win: Dapplehorse $20 Win: RYonker Good luck to all. |
Plenilune's Picks
Gallivan: $25 W Real Quiet, $25 W Don Guido, $50 S Ryonker |
I was going to comment on what a bad group of handicappers we were until I discovered that the "sneaky fast" RYonker has a win bet on GotaDunQH <grin>.
Going into day two Ron is "looking good"! |
After reading RQ's post, I thought it might be interesting to post the post time odds on each of the players so you can calculate your will pays as we go into the second day of the BC races. Here they are:
1. Ruffian: ML 3-1 Off Odds: 99-1 2. DonGuido: ML 3-1 Off Odds: 9-1 3. JolyB: ML 4-1 Off Odds: 8-1 4. Real Quiet: ML 9-2 Off Odds: 5-2 5. Cruzan 200246: ML 6-1 Off Odds: 5-1 6. ryonker: ML 6-1 Off Odds: 12-1 7. Criminal Type: ML 8-1 Off Odds: 5-1 8. Arletta: ML 8-1 Off Odds: 17-1 9. GotaDunQH: ML 9-1 Off Odds: 36-1 10. dapplehorse: ML 12-1 Off Odds: 13-1 At this time, GotaDunQH is a fantastic value for that player astute enough to bet on her. A couple of explanations. First, the odds have been set forth the way you would see them on a tote board, so some rounding and truncating has occurred. The actual payoffs will generally be a bit larger because this pool will have no takeout and no breakage.;). Second, the odds may seem very strange, but that can happen when you have a small pool. I hindsight, someone should have bet a couple of bucks on Ruff; they could have scooped the entire pool. Hey DonG - this is a fun game you created.:tro: |
Lets see if GDQH can go out and set the pace and hold on to win . . . maybe? But closers usually seem to have an advantage. Thanks JB for using that IBM main frame computer brain of yours for setting the final odds. It takes team work to make something happen . . . always. And we have here to the max.

And the results are:
In a dead heat for the superfecta position were Criminal Type and Plenilune, each with a total of $96.25. Ruffian garnered the show position with a total of $155.00. Fittingly, Real Quiet finished in the place position by betting on himself, but just not enough. He had a total of $192.50. But winning and going away was GotaDunQH, who got to the window after a late scratch and put it all down on RQ's nose. Despite the extra weight of all that loot, he still prevailed and won GotaDunQH a very nice payoff of $385.00. Isn't is nice when you don't have any takeout or breakage? Have to go to DonGuido's more often. Next time we do this, let's dispense with the place and show pools. We just don't have a large enough pool to make either of those worthwhile. |
Congrats GotaDunQH. You have a good eye for older broken down claiming horses who sometimes remember where the wire is <grin>.
