Nice win Ruffian. Thought I had you but the local horse Alwaysminning with all the wins threw in a clunker. He was obviously outclassed but sometimes you go with the horse for the course. The way it goes. Congrats to the rest of toppers.

Don, even if Alwaysmining let you (and a lot of others) down, I hope you still enjoyed your Preakness Day crabcakes, seasoned with Old Bay and washed down by some National Bohemian ("brewed on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay").

Must admit, I didn't like Alwaysmining or War of Will. Thought the former might get caught up in a speed duel with Warrior's Charge and just did not think that WOW was all that good. Some of those races he ran at FG had a crawling pace. I pretty much had the Preakness pace figured out, but not the horses that would benefit from it, except for Owendale. Now, what to do in the Belmont with WOW? If I bet him, that will likely be the kiss of death for him and he won't win another race.:zz::D

Hey Cal, and I thought I the was only one that put a double whammy on a horse I picked and bet to win.:wf

Plenty of horses beat me, but I try not to let that happen more than once, but sometimes, I just can't learn my lesson and one beats me multiple times in a year. It looks like this year's version is WOW. Last year's was Quip and he did it again this year in the Oaklawn Handicap. It's a perfect example of "Fool me Once" and you know the rest, but I will have to include him in my picks for the Belmont, even though I know that will be like giving him and probably myself the evil eye.:wf:D

ElPrado 05-21-2019 11:32 AM

I found a new way to bet these races.
Pick the horses you like... ignore them.
Then pick entries that couldn't make it around the track without a trailer.
You will win every time

On a side note, nothing to do with horse racing. When I went out on my deck this morning. The distinct smell of marijuana was wafting on the air. Arkansas passed the medical marijuana law a while back and the first dispensary opened last weekend and the first two dispensaries opened in Hot Springs. One of them is about two miles down the road from my house in a place that used to be a barbecue restaurant on one side and what might be described as a beer joint on the other. I used to go down and get barbecue at the restaurant, but avoided the beer joint. It was the type of place that one would dare not go without a fully loaded Glock and even then you were taking your chances without a Marine escort.

All this to say, I wonder whether some of my neighbors suddenly became "disabled." I guess that might explain the marijuana smell, but now that I think about it, I think I smelled that odor even before things got to be legal.:D

LOL!
Tampa General Hospital was giving me brochures on med pot 2 years before it was voted in January.

I've always heard that marijuana had lots of beneficial properties. If I suddenly become amazingly clairvoyant, I guess we'll all know the reason why.:D

Sorry, to ramble on about things happening around me. It's probably best to hold back a bit on the internet, but as long as I'm not revealing credit card numbers or signing confessions to criminal activity, it seems harmless though it might be boring the pants off everyone.

RUFFIAN 05-21-2019 01:07 PM

CAL QUIPS....
“...I've always heard that marijuana had lots of beneficial properties. If I suddenly become amazingly clairvoyant, I guess we'll all know the reason why.”

BASED ON POINTS + ROI RESULTS
GUESS THE “CLAIRVOYANCY FACTOR”
HAS NOT KICKED IN YET ;) :p :D

My seizures date to when I stopped smoking it. It really can be medically effective.
I could have avoided 5 days on life support. It took them that long to find something that stopped the first one. I was in status epilepticus 5 days. That means I couldn't breathe, had no heart beat, nothing. They were about to pull the plug when I woke up.

Sounds pretty scary. I don't use marijuana, but I wouldn't have the first qualm about it, if I needed it for some medical issue. I am a little taken aback that my state being in the bible belt and having a definite conservative, red state bent has been so accepting of it, but I guess that is the national trend and eventually all things make it to even the backwaters of America.

Country House Fans???

Are there any devoted fans Of COUNTRY HOUSE Among Our Players
I have a reason for asking :) ;) :{>:

DonGuido 05-22-2019 09:40 PM

This thread is starting to smell up the JOINT. When I was going to Clemson, there was big old house in good shape, three levels, that was rented out college students. Friday and Saturday nights in the very compact college town you could see a cloud smoke behind a retail and pizza joints hovering over the big southern oaks surrounding the big old house. It glimmered off an on from the street lights as the wind blew the tree limbs around and if you got too close for too long you started to write Beatle music and the longer you hung around the better each song you wrote sounded.

But hey man that was during early 70's just after Woodstock and all the hippie movement. It certainly wasn't legal but nobody complained and nobody did anything to stop it. Patty and I lived a good distance away but every once in awhile we find an excuse to visit a classmate in the big old house on a Friday or Saturday night. :zz::eek::D:D:
