I thought this article was good, maybe it will conjure up some memories to the old-timers... I unfortunately did not know this gadget ever existed.

I can just SEE the guy running up to be in a long-shot's winner's circle photo after hitting a big ticket. I wanted to do that once at Fairmount after hitting a 50-1 but didn't have the balls to do such a thing. Maybe I thought it would be kind of disrespectful to the owners. Yeah, that kind of would be...:p

Here's a picture. http://www.miniarcade.com/mattel/horse.htm

My wife bought me one from eBay a few years ago as a gift. Came with the box and everything. It is very cheesy and does essentially pick the chalk, by the same means the chalk becomes the chalk (placing in recent races, etc...).

I'll probbaly keep it forever becasue it was a gift and becasue it is a piece of handicapping history.

It's a neat gadget to play with, but I never did use it on an actual race. Seemed to take forever to plug in all of the numbers......

I don't want it for the actual handicapping...just for the nostalgia/kitsch factor...it's neat...:)
