Coachella 2008

The lineup isn't confirmed until next week, but pretty nice...

Everyone has their interests who they're partial to, but I think the 3 days are pretty balanced. Just because of who's headlining Sunday, that's probably that day I look forward to most. Anyone else planning on going?

Boy, That Show Has Really Fallen. Back In The Day It Was Awesome. Only Good Band I See There Now Is Unkle.

pmayjr 01-17-2008 07:25 AM

Onebad...

They bring awesome lineups every year. But I might've been fooled. I guess that promotional poster might be fake, and that might not be the lineup at all. They're seriously within a couple of weeks of tix goin on sale, and the official announcement of the lineup comes right before that. So we'll see how accurate it is.

If the lineup does prove to be accurate, it's really top-heavy. From what I've seen of past lineups, the headliners are great, but there are a lot of more unsung, underground acts that I look forward to seeing. I don't get that vibe with many of those this year. The headliners are pretty cool, but the lesser-known acts don't excite me much. But it's also a festival of discovery, so you'd leave there loving some acts you've never heard of before.

pmayjr 01-23-2008 03:51 PM

Sorry to be gullable, but that lineup I put up was fake. I wanted to believe it, because it was kickass. But here's the way more undferwhelming official lineup-

Not the worst thing I've ever seen, but I wouldn't be completely thrilled about it, just about a few of them.

That's what I get for posting my "hipster" music tastes on on a horse racing website lol.

Maybe Lollapalooza, which I alos hope to attend in August, does a little more for you? Pretty friggin' loaded lineup minus electronic acts-
http://www.lollapalooza.com

Headliners-
Radiohead, Rag Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Kanye West, but the other acts are pretty sick too.

Coachella is a little more for the indie/electronic fans, but they do have pop acts too.

But Lolla has a friggin nice rock lineup, with some other popular acts from other genres mixed in as well.

pmayjr 04-11-2008 12:28 PM

B-dub,

Lolla? It's in your back yard now...

ArlJim78 04-11-2008 12:28 PM

I'd love to see Ralf and Florian (Kraftwerk), and if they come out this way I definitely will.

edit. i'll be damned, they're in Milwaukee on the 20th.

A lot of the fest too (and most other fests) is discovering new acts. You obviously buy tickets to see the bands and artists you wanna see, but unless it's Woodstock with every big name known to man, you're gonna see some new acts... hopefully which you'll end up liking.

Haha yeah, they play in Minneapolis on the 19th. I gotta work, otherwise I'd catch them in Minneapolis too. More intruige with them than anything, but I'll at least get to see them at Coach.

Oh no way. I'd go to Coachella ten times with that same lineup before I'd go to Lolla once.

God, I miss Lilith Fair. Predictable, right?

Agree on Breeders...Great bloodlines with Kim Deal from Pixies to Breeders. Cannonball one of the greatest songs few ever heard

I went to Lollapalooza first two times it was here. Sound was awful as stages overlapped and hard to get near the headliners as people camped out all day. Pretty strong line-up this year and anytime Wilco is included, it's a good thing

I prefer Gigantic from the Pixies days.
