Ill make this as easy as possible. One selection per race and an alternate.

Good Luck!

Good idea.

Would love to be able to compete for all of it, but I'm not going to be able to near a computer much on a Thursday within a couple of weeks.

I will join in for the time I'm around, if that's okay. Hopefully I can manage a few weeks selections, even it it means posting them as soon as the final decs come out for the following thursday. Then I should be okay to post selections for world cup night.

A cut off time though! We need to have one... no?

Good old King Jock... did you see there's a Queen Jock entered in the Cocoa Beach race (R3?).:D

See..... I've forgiven him for trouncing my boy.

I'm guessing selections have to be in anytime before the start of the meeting, but Brock better make up the rules.

Yeah, Queen and King Jock. I will never forget that day when he beat Ace. Maybe I can find a replay somewhere

Ummm, he beat him twice... President's Cup and the National Day Cup or something like that.

Replays on the ERA site.

Personally I choose to remember Ace-ie as i saw him in person, with Kieren up, coming in 2nd when it mattered. :)

Oh yeah, I forgot you were there that day. I bet him at Belmont, but only for him to win. Never mind, he gave me a cracking run for my money.

He was a character, that little fella.

Right, here goes nothing.

Race 1 (first thoroughbred race)
Selection: Olympic City, Alt: Classy-lady

Race 2
(three very interesting Godolphin horses, with Fiesta Lady having won the Argentinian Oaks on her last start, but 7furlongs might be on the sharp side, and she has to give away 5lbs+ to her rivals.)

Selection: Cocoa Beach, Alt: Olympic Glory

Race 3
Selection: Elmustanser, Alt: Consular

Race 4
Selection: Rosberg, Alt: Yasoodd

Race 5
Selection: Boston Lodge, Alt: Gloria De Campeao

Race 6
Selection: Tapor, Alt: Sea Hunter

Good luck, everyone

EDIT: Just had to edit the selections now that they will most likely run the turf races on the dirt.

NoChanceToDance 01-16-2008 10:01 AM

Turf races abandoned

NoChanceToDance 01-16-2008 03:24 PM

Now they are saying they will run the turf races on the main dirt track IF there is enough interest from trainers tomorrow.

How much is enough interest? How long is a piece of string?

From our friends at the ERA...

The opening meeting of the Dubai International Racing Carnival at Nad Al Sheba will go ahead tomorrow and be run exclusively on the dirt.

Following the extremely wet weather, the three races scheduled to be run on the turf will not be run on that surface.
However, depending on the level of interest from the trainers who have horses entered in those races, they could be switched to the dirt track, which would mean the 1,777m race would be run over 1800m, otherwise the distances would remain the same.

Dubai Racing Club CEO Frank Gabriel Jr said: “The dirt course has been sealed the last three days, and there will be no training on it tomorrow morning, with the goal that we can offer a fast track.

“Everyone has had to struggle with this freakish weather over the last few days, so in that respect, we are delighted that we are still able to stage the feature races – both versions of the Maktoum Challenge.

“We will see what the response is to moving the three turf races to dirt, and make a decision on the final make-up of the card tomorrow morning.”
