Why no rabbit?

You'd think the people who own Court Vision could afford to get a sprinter to put in a race like this so that they don't go the first half in 25 and change, giving their horse too much to do in the stretch. Like they did for Better Talk Now a few years back. And they do in Europe all the time - they put in a pacemaker to make a proper pace.

There is no way that first fraction was right.

I totally agree. Johnny actually asked Make the Point for position, and he rode him very well regardless of where he finished, and I have a very hard time believing he subsequently went 25 and change.

The entire race needs to be retimed. I imagine it will be.

A rabbit wouldn't have done anything. Whether the fractions are correct or not, it still was slow enough for Court Vision to have been closer to the pace. He just had nothing.

Regardless of the pace, time, etc. Cool Coal Man and Elysium Fields were standouts and two to be reckoned with.

King Glorious 02-24-2008 04:37 PM

After watching what you just watched, how can you allow yourself to use the word standout with any of them?

well, i thought cool coal man did everything he needed to do.
as for elysium, considering the bias at that track at that distance, he did VERY well coming out of the nine hole.
also, who out there has proven faster at this point? you don't have to be FAST, just faster than everyone else!

now, let's see what war pass will do...

Because I've watched the other derby preps this year.

I think the quarter was wrong. Either way, Court Vision put in a decent run for his first start back. He'll be okay this spring if he moves forward.

The Bid 02-24-2008 05:36 PM

Okay for what? Hes certainly not going to beat the top 2 in that race. Not now, not in the Spring, not with a head start, I would venture to say not ever. Its not all bad though, he earned back 35 thousand of that 5 million dollar purchase plodding along.

A rabbit might have won the damn thing.

Asmussen should have sent that former Baffert colt who aired at FG the other day and let him run free.

Might have walked on in.
