Adriano to Mott

I'm a fan of Graham Motion and have to wonder how much of an upgrade or perhaps lateral is more correct this move is, saying that Mott is very patient trainer and his record speaks for itself. BTW Motion not only lost Adriano but all 12 of Courtlandt Farms horses.

Adriano moving back to turf (where he belongs) was not surprising to me. If they're planning on running in the midwest, then the move makes sense... but I'd have figured he'd go the VA to AP route (Colonial Turf, VA Derby, Secretariat).... and Motion's more used to running at Colonial.

At least I hope he goes that route, as I added him in my roadtothebreederscup stable for that reason (3 races with only using 1 pick).

with that stride of his he definetly needs Turf. He has that stiff right front, but he really reaches out with a good stride length. Right now It isn't so much of a handicap, but you don't like stride irregularities.
As well as he handles the turfway course, he may add the Kentucky Cup Classic @ Turfway in september to his plans. (the race where Hard Spun and Street Sense faced off last season)

Mott should have him back to that nice turf form for some grass races.

If they wanted to be very unorthodox, they could have sent him out West, to Mike Mitchell. Not only would he handle any possible pain in that right front, but if his Turfway form was an indication of his synthetic form, he could do well over there and point for a race like the BC (synthetic)"dirt" mile.

I think he wants more ground than a mile. I hope the Colonial races draw nice big fields but I kind of hope he doesn't go because he'll be chalky and probably tough to beat. . .

I think Adriano has potential on turf, always thought that since his 1st race at the Spa last year, I just don't understand the Trainer switch. From what I have seen, there are few better than Motion with turf horses out east or mid east. I say this with nothing but the highest regard for Bill Mott. But it seems a little unfair.

It happens. . . Mott's a better trainer but Motion's ok.

Definitely unfair. There are very few trainers as adept with turfers as is Motion.

Isn't this a simple case of, given that all of Courtland's horses were removed from his barn, a major falling out between trainer and owner? I doubt the move has anything to do with comparing Graham Motion's and Bill Mott's respective turf numbers.

Also, as an aside, when did Adriano become some monster turf horse anyways? Didn't he get lit up in the Laurel Futurity?

I'll take Nistlee's Crunch in a head-to-head any day of the week (with Old Man Buck and Cherokee Triangle as alternates)...

Its pretty tough to take a grass horse away from Graham Motion

You're right he's the greatest trainer to ever live.

Not saying that either but for the stock he gets, Motion does a great job. Anyone that can get Better Talk Now not only a BC Turf title but also keep him competitive into his 9 year old year is a pretty darn good trainer in my book.
