West Virginia goes for McCain

Not surprising...when I went to college there it was well known that black folks weren't welcome in several counties...some of the best folks I've ever met live in WVa.....and some of the worst!

John is in his 60's if I remember correctly. When he went to college there were MANY places all over the United States where black people "werent welcome"

True, but my first wife was from there and I still visit the state, of course race wasn't the ONLY issue but it was significant...I guarantee that! It always ruffles feathers when one brings up the subject, if you doubt me, go live in the rural part of the state for one year! I was there for 8 years!

No feathers ruffled here. I just think it's very short sighted on your part. I would venture to guess there are people that live in all 50 states that still are racist and don't want to welcome blacks in their area. I have many friends that have told me they felt the most racism in the Northeast part of the country. I just think it's irresponsible on your part to single out a single state like you did.

As I said...and will say again...I lived there, was married for 17 years to a woman from there...she was a wonderful woman but her entire family was racist. It's not irresponsible to report what I saw, what I experienced! Of course WVa is not alone....but racism played a significant role...period! By the way...Obama has won!

My mother is from WVa....I still have lots of family in WVa....I still have spent a great deal of time in WVa myself. I can also assure you this...in my household growing up, if we were to ever even mutter the word "n*gger" our ass would have been beat thoroughly. Mom and Dad did not tolerate it at all.

It's no use in talking with you anyways...you just don't get it.

Yep, he doesn't understand the concept of slapping labels on people and the effect it has. I have had to stop myself several times from replying to some of his posts lately as it just isn't worth it. :(
