Oh. My. God.

Great, it wasn't a complete waste of a weekend for Pletcher he won the Honey Jay.

I don't get it. Sara Louise gets a 104 for 6 furs in 1:09.3 and CCC and VH get a 103 after running 6 furs in 1:09.3 in a 7 fur race.

I believe you answered your own question there. Beyers are only calculated from final times of races.

Isn't King of the Roxy an OH bred?? That spot makes sense, a free 30k as that race was for OH breds

jballscalls 09-01-2009 07:05 PM

The Beyers are final time numbers.

Considering the relative speed of the race track, the pace was screaming fast in the King's Bishop - but the final quarter mile could have been timed with a sundial. They staggered home late.

Dunno why but I thought he'd retired. Wow that was a shock.

cmorioles 09-03-2009 09:34 AM

I don't buy that 114 given to Icon Project for a second.

I think it's utterly ridiculous as well.

Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on the race?

This is actually not his first stakes win this year. He won a small, ungraded stakes back in mid-July at Ellis Park.

CSC 09-03-2009 10:13 AM

Does anyone else here think It's A Bird will be the wisguy 2nd choice this weekend, fresh off of last weekend's Wolfson win? Personally I don't like this horse at all and really I tried making a case for some horses but RA should have no problems this weekend, if she does she isn't the filly most think she is.

King Glorious 09-03-2009 10:15 AM

Where I am with that figure is that I believe that it's correct but I don't believe it's legit, if that makes any sense. Sometimes, the situation and conditions can lead to something that you couldn't predict even with the results in hand but something you're not likely to see again. Same with Midway Road's 124 and Bellamy Road's 120.

I think 104 is more like it, and the pace was pretty quick. She still ran very well obviously.

As for King Glorious, what do you base your opinion on that the figure is legitimate? The Beyer guys split the variant for the last two races, the Icon race and a maiden race with a bunch of 1sters, one of which won pretty easily.

The Indomitable DrugS 09-04-2009 09:24 AM

I didn't have the pace all that fast.

There was a stretch headwind that day ... which distorts the relationship between 9f and 10f somewhat.

You also had a drying out main track .. it would be interesting to know if the track super and his crew played around with it while the turf race was run prior.

That seems a hell of alot more likely than IP being a superstar and all time great.

Me? I think IP ran a big race and everyone else ran like crap.
