No Game Tonight

We'll have to wait for tomorrow night.

Blah. Been looking forward to this game this entire rainy day.

This helps the Angels I think because now they can bring Lackey back on three days rest Monday if they can win tomorrow.

That really sucks.

I was thinking of all the to do about CC pitching on 3 days rest (as well as others over the years) and it made me think of Mickey Lolich in the '68 Series vs. The Cards.

He threw a complete game victory in Game 2. On three days rest, he threw a complete game victory in Game 5. On TWO days rest, he threw a complete game victory to beat the great Bob Gibson in Game 7, to win the Series.

3-0 record
27 innings pitched in 8 days
1.67 ERA

Makes you only want to watch baseball on ESPN Classic doesn't it? Back when men were real men. Nowdays, five innings is called a quality start. Nowdays, they'll bring a pitcher in to face one batter and lefties get taken out cause a right handed batter is coming up. Nowdays, closers are considered ironmen if they can pitch two innings. Nowdays, pitchers are on pitch counts. Nowdays, a guy that throws 200 innings is considered a workhorse.
