Holy ****.. Blind Luck was shot out of a cannon.

Wow!

SCUDSBROTHER 12-20-2009 06:46 PM

They expected her to easily win the Breeders Cup Juvenile Filly Race. Don't know what happened that day, but Tyler has gotten almost neurotic about winning his 1st Breeders Cup Race. He ain't getting this girl back.

How about not changing leads until 3-4 jumps from the wire...?

hockey2315 12-20-2009 07:03 PM

I need to watch the replay again and see the fractions, but that seemed like a pretty nice set-up against a field that probably wasn't going to be finding more in the final strides.

SCUDSBROTHER 12-20-2009 07:11 PM

She looked stuck in last (down on the inside.) Beautician was gunna have a much easier trip, and get 1st run. When Beautician backed out of it, that gave Blind Luck a little more room. I don't think it was a perfect trip. She is just good, and got that inconsistent wild card off her back.

NTamm1215 12-20-2009 07:16 PM

It was a very strong effort. The pace was solid but the way she won it really didn't matter. They also went faster than older males did going the same distance two races earlier. That's significant considering Lookin at Lucky went slower than a bunch of older female slowpokes yesterday on the same card.

Please watch the replay and tell me it wasn't an absolutely perfect trip.

Since when is saving ground a bad thing?

She sat in the pocket behind a very fast, crowded pace and angled out at the perfect time.

She was clearly the best horse and her acceleration was visually impressive (even though the wrong lead thing was ugly), but it's easy to look impressive when the horses behind you are basically running in place.

I wouldn't dispute that she's better than Luckin At Lucky, though.

:23.1
:46.2
1:10.4
1:35.2
1:41.4

She came home in about :30.2..

RolloTomasi 12-20-2009 07:41 PM

Blind Luck came home the last 5/16ths in 31 seconds.

Lookin At Lucky came home in just over 30 seconds.

The difference in 1/2 mile fraction was nearly 2 seconds.

Well, I can only tell ya what I thought as I watched the race when they were in the middle of the backstretch. I thought she was stuck in last with a lot of fillies in her way (both in front of her, and outside of her.) I did not think she'd win from that poor situation. I thought she'd run a troubled 2nd-4th. This is her real ability being shown. I don't know what that was the other day from her. Tyler was in tears at one point that day. Obviously, that individual is not mentally stable. So, people need to overlook that last race. This isn't a fluke performance. She will improve on it.

I think she's in that Stardom Bound catagory, I don't think she will move up on dirt.

Doesn't matter that she has a 13+ length win on dirt already?

Stardom Bound would have ran a 57 beyer crushing maiden claimers at Calder, right?

Her Beyer was a 78, but why should I expect you to have any credibility, right?

Anybody have any word about what went wrong with Beautician?

She was RNA'd for just 10K at the OBS April 2yo sale.

http://www.obssales.com/aprcatalog/2009/233.wmv

Even in that extremely brutal April market this year .. 10K for an April 2yo is absolute peanuts. Breeders Cup Juvie Fillies winner She Be Wild RNA'd for 19k at the same sale - OBS April.

Anyway - when you can't find someone willing to pay even 20K for one at a 2yo sale ... that's a huge reason why both of these two debuted for maiden claiming tags.
