Interesting...and also somewhat telling of the state of affairs in CA...

The old warhorse Zappa is cross-entered this weekend, spotted not only in a Grade 2, but also a $32K claimer.

Is Sadler riding the fence or the Great Wall Of China?

Wow, that is unusual, to say the least!

Must be doing good, he scratched from the claimer.

Might want to handicap the Monday Santa Anita card with rain in mind, effecting the San Marcos turf race?

The great sire Unusal Heat strikes again with another pure dog biscuit who wins a Graded Stakes.

The performance gap between being an ordinary allowance horse and becoming a Graded Stakes winner is alarmingly razor thin.

This is ironic.

The winner of todays "Grade 2" was beaten in a non-winners of 2 alw race two weeks ago by a horse that was on a 10 consecutive race losing streak.

But I know, the race took place on a synthetic track ... and any times I say something less than kind about a horse or race run over a synthetic track - you sprain your vagina.

the_fat_man 01-17-2010 08:36 PM

It's comical reading some of your posts. Or, listening to Searling on the show. All this NOT FAST ENOUGH stuff gets real old. It's just STUPID. Especially with all the SLOW horses continually winning races.

I actually liked this horse today. It wasn't so much what she'd accomplished but how she compared with the others in the race. I wasn't particularly impressed by any of the others, so I took a shot. See, when you don't have the NUMBERS anchor to drag around, you sometimes get lucky.

But, I really enjoy all your BEYER history lessons or those insightful stats.

What did you expect, its SO CAL!

I knew a redboard was coming....and a very poor 'I stabbed in the dark and hit something' type of redboard at that.

A few months ago - there were five - count them five - graded stakes Breeders Cup races run at two turns over a synthetic track.

Out of those five races ... I posted on here before the race that Life Is Sweet was my top pick to win the Distaff - she did win at 8/1 odds.

I posted that Vale of York was my top pick to win the Juvenile - he won the Juvenile at 30/1 odds.

I posted that Furthest Land was my top pick to win the Dirt Mile - he won the Dirt Mile at 21/1 odds.

3-for-5 ... and I showed more respect for Zenyatta's chances in the Classic than most of the other so-called "numbers guys" you stupidly bash.

Oh ... and how many non-Breeders Cup synthetic races did I post a pick of on here last year? You could count them on one hand and still have a finger or three left over .. and does Genaral Quarters winning the Blue Grass Stakes at 14/1 odds happen to ring a bell?

But yeah ... I suppose selections I post on here before a race don't count. I really just can't grasp the complexities of synthetic track route racing? right?

TVG had 3 different one-day contests at synthetic tracks last year - in every single contest I turned eight $20 win-place wagers into over $1k. Luck? Yeah, I'd say... since the odds of doing that are about a zillion to one. But hey....

Make your imbecilic assumptions about my handicapping process all you want ... but it's one of very few things I take pride in. I pour my heart and soul into it and I'm so analytically superior to you that I giggle like a school girl just thinking about it.

Yeah, but the second dam of that horse was one of the fastest fillies ever.

Pedigreequery says she won this race by 18 lengths (equibase chart not available) but in her next three and final races she was the heavy favorite and finished in the back of the field?
