Loyalty

I was a huge Proud Tower Too fan and was so happy when they kept Cohen up for Dubai.

This jockey hardly ever gets any notice at all and, since it's a(nother) slow Monday and being a fan of Caracortado (even though it looks like he'll go to the Preakness)...

http://drf.com/news/article/111932.html

... just thought I'd post this piece from a couple of days ago.

I never make excuses for any horse (at least I try not to) but I am kinda wondering about Saturday and what might have been - just in a fleeting way.

Aaah well.

On Paul Atkinson...

How much loyalty is there in racing?

Being a newer fan than most of you David Cohen is my point of reference.

Anyone want to share a story of loyalty or maybe one of its polar opposite?

Most loyal? Biggest back stabber? :D

Anything goes.

I don't believe in loyalty at all.

Loyalty is something for suckers and it's something that can hurt a bettor far more than it can help him.

Does that go for just racing? or in general life?

Paul Atkinson sure had his fans and supporters in the paddock and trackside at Santa Anita on Saturday.

I heard more "shout outs" of support for him than I did any other horse or jockey in the field.

Racing is about doing the best you can in relation to everyone else. Doesn't matter what aspect you're talking about. Nothing else is important. I think being contrarian and especially finding ways to either cheat or gain an edge through very hard work are most key.

General life is about having food, drink, sleep, and something to do that makes you feel good. You could probably get all four of those things in a prison cell .. although certainly not quality food, quality drink, quality sleep, and quality activites that make you feel good.

Insult me as you did ... but anyone who thinks they know the meaning to life and that it's any deeper and more complex than I described ... they might as well be sucking their own dick in a hall of mirrors as far as I'm concerned.

To believe we are a species whos lives are so much more important than any other animal is no less crazy than believing we are all just figments of The Fat Man's imagination.

Anyone who would care to learn anymore can PM me if I ever open up 'The Church of DrugS' ... a peaceful place of good food, good drink, and pleasures that lead to sound sleep. The Bunny Ranch of the North East. Freddy Mo will be my pope.

Don't you have problems sleeping?! :p

Don't mention Proud Tower Too. I'm still pissed off at people here for a certain episode. :D

Actually, back when he was like 17 or 18, he used to insist that his goal in life was to have a bunch of kids by his mid 20s and then die at the age of 29.

At least he had some self given purpose back then.

Dear Father,
I am sad that you missed and forgot about my birhday. All i wanted this year was for you and mom there together. Maybe next year you will remember you have a daughter. You need to get your priorities straight.
All my love, Sally.

The Indomitable DrugS 04-07-2010 08:10 AM

I have made many mistakes, but making you was the single thing that is right with my life. I didn't forget your birthday, it was a test. Like a potential Jedi, you need to seperate from loved ones to save the Republic!

AeWingnut 04-07-2010 08:22 PM

and people here think I'm looney tunes

From SA stable notes (Caracortado related)...

". . Mike Machowsky hasn’t closed the door on Caracortado running in the Derby. “I haven’t ruled anything out,” the trainer said. “He’s nominated for it. We’ll just wait and see. He has $153,000 in graded earnings and I’ll know in the next 10 days what’s going on. A lot can happen during that time.” . . .
