I know we knew who was showing up for quite some time and I could have unleashed my onslaught prior to now but it is an absolute shame what the Blue Grass has become. 7 of the 9 entrants are eligible for a N1X. The field collectively has among it two allowance wins, 3 maiden wins, and a weak G3 on dirt.

Granted the last three or four runnings of the Blue Grass on dirt were a joke but this race is just laughable.

The Jenny Wiley is a terrific race, though, and at least that bails out the other three very forgettable stakes races.

I'm looking forward to playing this card ... and though you make good points about the Blue Grass ... considering this current crop of 3yos and the recent editions of this race ... I actually think it's an interesting race.

Obviously there is a much stronger turf flavor than usual for a TC prep race but nw1x horses are the norm now in TC preps. You have 4 horses coming in off of stakes wins, a multiple stakes winner (on turf) coming off a close 2nd to the SA Derby winner, the obligatory pletcher coming off a third in the FOY to the Derby fav and the FL derby runner up (by a nose) who is having something close to a 1980's style TC prep campaign.

That race is the 98BC Classic compared to the Commonwealth. That is a disgraceful group of horses for a gr 2 250k race.

The Commonwealth is a tragedy. Is there any way you can late nom Colonel Klink, twist their arm to re-draw and run him in there? I'm POSITIVE he could outrun one of those Trombetta horses.

2 Trombettas, a Donald barr, a Weaver Jersey bred and Shug's slug. That is some lineup.

Weaver is using the Commonwealth as a prep for the NW2x NJ bred at monmouth which may in fact be a tougher spot.

Yea as these preps have gone the BG looks mildly interesting.

An odd week for IEAH to say the least.

Kip Deville, I Want Revenge, and now Stardom Bound on turf.

cakes44 04-07-2010 03:23 PM

Informed Decision should have gone in the Commonwealth.

It's really desperation time for Stardom Bound.

There is always Presque Isle.

Indian Charlie 04-07-2010 08:28 PM

I wonder when they will try to send Informed Decision a route of ground?

I know she got her ass handed to her in the Davona Dale, but cmon! Try her in a route at Kee!

Sire is a Derby Winner. Broodmare sire is His Majesty.

You'd think it would at least occur to them.

Nevermind. The Commonwealth's purse is $50,000 less.

It's a shame such fitting slogans as "The summer place to be" and "The Great Race Place' have been taken up by other tracks.

I know it's far from an accurate way to guess at odds but I've been amazed with how many people have picked Paddy O' Prado in the Maker's Mark-Blue Grass double contest.

What sort of Beyer figure did Paddy O'Prado get for his turf win (the race name escapes me)?

He got a 93 for the win in the Palm Beach.

My issue with Paddy O'Prado is that he was given an extremely clever ride by Jesus Castanon (one of the best riders no one knows about in my opinion) and took advantage of an absolutely baked turf course at GP that played kindly to speed and frontrunners. He scorched a ton of money in three starts prior to the Palm Beach and just seems to me like a horse who benefited from circumstances last time out.

He has shown the ability to rate, though, so I think he'll be ok in here.

Is Stately Victor just entered here to toy with me?
