Monmouth / Atlantic City
I am considering taking a weekend trip to Monmouth for the upcoming long holiday weekend.
Any suggestions on places to stay? I checked The Borgata and they want $400+ per night avg. I am willing to stay near Oceanport, but would prefer my hotel to be in or near Atlantic City. Also, I plan on going to AC at night after the Monmouth card is over - Is driving from Monmouth to AC a straight thru drive? Any suggestions / tips on any part of the trip would be helpful and appreciated.. |

Sure, I know AC and MTH are about 80+ miles apart. I live in the Fort Lauderdale, FL area, was considering flying into Atl. City Airport Friday evening via Spirit Air ( $199 RT ), and playing poker, etc in AC Friday Night ( Borgata ). Then drive up to MTH Saturday morning, driving back to AC Saturday evening, then repeating this on Sunday. Then fly back Monday afternoon. I certainly don't mind driving the 1.5 hours each way as long as it's a fairly straight through drive. I was also looking for tips on what/where to avoid on my drive. I have never been to MTH and love to go to racetracks I haven't ever been to. Any tips or suggestions are appreciated. |

As far as your drive goes, once you are on the GSP you are pretty much committed to whatever you are going to endure. Not sure how the traffic flows that early going south to north. But if it's anything like the traffic north to south, give yourself plenty of time. |

Thanks for the info... You only live once, so I'll probably wind up at The Borgata or one of the Trump properties. Hopefully I'll hit a pick 3 or 4 to pay for it. |

Rob-
Went from AC to Mnmth park last Saturday without much trouble and will probably do so this Sat.. Problems occurred when I got off the parkway at 105 as the traffic was a little bad. Borgata will be full rate. Trump Marina and Harrahs are within local proximity of Borgota so those are 2 places you may want to try. Otherwise look at some of the boardwalk properties(casinos/hotels).. Also since you are flying spirit, check their site.. They used to have some deals with hotels in the area. If you need any directions from airport to Ac or whatever let me know. |

good info - Thanks! |
A little tip. After you get off the GSP you will be on Rte 36. Go to the 3rd (I'm pretty sure that's it) light. It should be Wyckoff Rd. and make a left (There should be a TD Bank on your left). Take Wyckoff Rd. to the end (it's only about a mile mile and a half tops). Make a right on what should be rte 537 Eatontown Rd. Just stay straight on that for about a mile and a half and it will take you right to the track. This is the way I go all the time. It's like a back door right into the track and keeps you away from the congestion and chaos of 36. You can do the same thing when you leave and avoid the traffic out as well.

Thx for the tip..The past few yrs I had used exit 105 mostly for a shortcut to Delicious Orchards. But I just put this in my car for hopefully this wkend and future trips.
