8/27: Saratoga (Day 31-B. Baruch; $67+ C/O)

Nearly a $68k carryover for the pre-Travers Day card at the Spa after the odd couple of McGaughey and Aquillino scored 11-1 and 9-1 victories in the 9th and 7th respectively. Other than those two upsets, it was a numbingly chalky afternoon... Without wanting to rush things along too much, I do have to say that everything this week has seemed like a dull prequel to what lies ahead Saturday and Sunday here at Saratoga. And with Dee Tee's Ausable Chasm now signed on as part of the Personal Ensign undercard (2nd race), the weekend can't get here soon enough. The P6 is approached below, and it's part of a fun card that has several quirky twists. Hope you did OK Thursday and are ready for a tremendous weekend of racing including The Travers Day festivities, Rachel & Life at Ten, Pacific Classic Day at Del Mar, Juvenile Showcase at Calder and more!

Steve, do you hate Get Stormy? Last time you did not pick him in your top 4, and now today Baletti? I think, once again Get Stormy is a total standout.

I think he had Stormy as his super add after scratches, but I asked the same question last time. :D

I'm as big a Get Stormy fan as anyone, but the distance is a legitimate question.

It seems like everyone loves Baletti. I think Get Stormy probably gets it done, but I might back up w/ Sudden War.

I hope Trickmeister comes in last so we don't have to hear IEAH talk about him again. Luck is he wins and they talk for 3 weeks about how he is going to the Super Derby to wire that field, only to enter in 4 horse race the day before

I like him fine. I believe I picked him 2nd. There's a big difference between the surface and field today and the surface and field August 1. He's one of several that can win the stake, and 9-5 or thereabouts doesn't cut it for me.

Kevin,

That's as remarkable a call as I've seen recently. That horse was nearly impossible to make... GREAT JOB!

Total $$$

GPK 08-27-2010 05:58 PM

Thanks guys. I realize its after the fact, but I thought his last race was much better than what the form showed. Once he was finally done backing up from behind Mizzen's Wake, he closed decent into some soft fractions. Gomez looked like he was sitting on a ton of horse the whole race. Heady ride by Maragh today:tro:

Nice job, now you just need Maram to run huge to complete your weekend.

Gus, that would be very nice. Really interested to see how Film Maker's first foal does tomorrow.
