RIP Ron Santo
Just sorry you didn't get into the hall while you were alive. I had the pleasure of growing up with his sons Ron Jr. and Jeff and although they were estranged for many years from their father, old number 10 'manned up' did what he had to do and became as tight as ever with his adult children. They needed him and in the end he needed them and at least in the end things were 'right!'

RIP Ron. Sad loss for us Cubs fans.
It's an absolute disgrace and travesty that he did not get that phone call from the Veteran's Committee for the HOF. 9 time All Star, Multiple Gold Gloves, 342 HR's, he had the numbers and was a terrific player. He was a class act and should have been enshrined while alive to enjoy it. The Committee should be ashamed of themselves today! |
Ain't gonna be the same listening to a Cubs game without him.
Isn't right that he isn't in Cooperstown too! |
very sad ..rip ronnie woo woo will never be the same..

I spent alot of afternoons at Wrigley along the third base line watching Santo - great memories.

I have his 1964 Topps Card - it's got to be worth a cool
$ 20 :p |
Nice to see some posts about ol' #10. I'll miss Ron's jokes about Pat Hughes' tuna sandwiches and ugly sweater hanging in the booth, as well as Pat's jokes about Ron's toupee being burnt by a space heater in the booth at Shea Stadium. Listening to Cubs' games won't be the same without him.

A real shame. No doubt in my mind that Santo should be in the HOF.
