It's a great betting race, there are a few horses in it that could be legitimate turf horses down the line and there's more than enough pace to guarantee that it'll be a truly run race.

It's easy to pop on here after 80% of the stakes races run in this country are carded and crow about how bad the horses in it are, how the good horses from yesteryear would crap on them, and how few good horses we have now. This, to me, is going to be an interesting race.

Who are the ones who could be legitimate? I see a standout if he can run back to his Woodbine race 2 back. The problem is he burns more money then anything. The 13 is OK, but this might be to much to soon and that post does not help. Am I missing someone else?

For betting purposes it well be terriffic. I didnt knock the talent and realize that there just arent turf horses in the States anymore of substance. The stock is gone and it isnt coming back. Good news though Telling is prepping for the Sword Dancer

No, I know what you meant and we agree. I can see a horse like Prince Will I Am, whose last two turf races were pretty good, could easily become a player in GI races later this year. For God's sake, Winchester won two GI races last year. If you had said that he was going to win the Manhattan and Joe Hirsch at this point last year you would have been ridiculed and rightfully so.

It's a literary (and cinematic) character.

my miss storm cat 02-17-2011 02:47 PM

I would guess Scarlett O'Hara but only because of the word "belle".

Ding, ding, ding... Close enough.

Based on real life Lexington, KY cathouse proprietor Belle Brezing, and played deliciously by Ona Munson in 'GWTW', Belle Watling is Rhett Butler's 'friend' and Madam of the Atlanta cathouse he frequents.
