Both of the Ward horses are cross entered.

You know it's Preakness week when Dunkelberger starts showing up in the Pimlico PP's with regularity.

ellpol 05-16-2011 12:40 PM

The weather forecast for this week in Baltimore makes turf racing doubtful. Firm turf very very doubtful.

slotdirt 05-16-2011 01:01 PM

They've been predicting severe weather off and on for the better part of a month now in this area, and I think we've seen it actually rain maybe twice in that time.

They would have to basically have a hurricane to move a race like the Dixie off the turf.

Is there a Black eyed Susan / Preakness double?

Gate Dancer 05-17-2011 07:40 AM

Yes...............

Here's the wagering options for BES Day.......... http://www.preakness.com/sites/www.p.../11BDPOSTS.pdf

slotdirt 05-17-2011 08:27 AM

According to the weather man this morning, should be fast and firm by Saturday with very little chance of rain.

Gate Dancer 05-18-2011 12:15 PM

In The Very One it would be wise to watch the last race replay of Supreme.............big jump up in class but her last race was pretty impressive. Almost stopped in the stretch and then just blew by horses late.

hockey2315 05-18-2011 03:00 PM

I fear the whole world will have seen her last before betting opens. . .

Which may not necessarily be a bad thing................I'm not totally convinced she's fast enough. Viewers of the replay will draw their own conclusion. But it is rather eye-catching.

Dahoss 05-18-2011 03:15 PM

She was pretty impressive and outside of Rose Catherine, who has been kind of dull this year, there isn't much in there.

My only criticism and it's an obvious one is that was a really bad field she beat. She was essentially running by a field of 25k claimers. But I'm at the very least playing her prominently in multi's and depending on her odds, maybe to win.

hockey2315 05-18-2011 03:18 PM

Ya there's really nothing in the race. . . Supreme's lack of speed is my biggest concern, but I'll probably try to pound out some X w/ Royal Delta w/ Supreme PK3s and Royal Delta w/ Supreme w/ X because Rose Catherine's presence will add to the value.

The difference between 25K claimers and stakes horses in turf sprints is pretty slight...relatively speaking.

I don't disagree. It was still a bad field for what it was, especially when the favorite didn't lift a hoof. I might have been generous calling it a field of 25k claimers.
