It's nice to see HdG and BL hook up again, but they really couldn't scrounge up more than three other horses for $750k?

Run just about anything for a shot third place share of that.

Delaware has had some tough years, when the average field size was probably 5 or 6 horses after scratches. The place is so pleasant, however, that even then I'd take a few trips there every season. In recent years it has much improved, but judging from the field sizes alone for the Del Cap Day card, there'll probably be a few races that end up being unplayable (including the Del Cap itself). On the other hand, the two turf races look promising.

More problematic than the field sizes, recently, has been the favorite's winning percentage. I've seen it creep up to 40 %, although right now, it's at about 35 %.

The trick to winning there, of course, has nothing to do with handicapping ability. In order to win, you must bring peanuts to bribe the squirrels. They are the lares and penates of Delaware Park.

Wow, Tempted to Tapit...haven't heard that name in while. Where has he been for so long?

Two back was in March of last year. Started working steadily in March of this year (11 works, 3 of the more recent ones were bullets) and won at DEL, wire to wire, in an optional claimer on June 13th with a Brisnet speed figure that matched his lifetime best.

It's good to see him back, I liked him last year. I'm also hoping Larry Jones can turn Friesan Fire around...kind of sad to see what he has become the last couple years.

Dominguez may win all 3 of these

I don't like Havre De Grace at 10f.

I really don't understand it.

TVG made a nice promo with the rivalry of Blind Luck and Havre De Grace. But they purposefully leave out the BC Ladies Classic to say the Del Cap is a rubber match between them.

No they aren't.

RolloTomasi 07-16-2011 04:52 PM

Ironically, Life At Ten was about as far behind these two at the finish as she was in the Breeder's Cup.

Of course they aren't. Morning Line and Tizway and Pool Land are.

Dahoss 07-16-2011 05:00 PM

Now I know they aren't.

King Glorious 07-16-2011 05:03 PM

Now I'm positive they are.
