CD Stewards

Did anyone catch the ESPN shot of the stewards room during the Turf Mile inquiry? Great to see the TV on the far right was on college football. A little hard to believe after last year's LAT incident.

I could not understand why Goldikova did not get taken down and Yesterday's 2nd race Congo did.

Indian Charlie 11-06-2011 01:53 AM

It would have been bad public relations to take her down.

The takedown of Congo was due to Johnny striking the other horse with his whip, which is an automatic DQ. Why no DQ yest., I have no idea. Maybe they ruled it did not cost anyone a position which I would strongly disagree with. I doubt CC was going to be last.

I agree. Did you see the head-on shown on TVG? It looked like Golidikova might have pushed out 5 or even 6 horses. Courageous Cat's day was certainly done afterwards.

It looks like good PR always comes first....

I'd hardly call that good PR. So much comes into question with racing, in my opinion this doesn't help.

Sorry for not making my opinion more clear. I was being sarcastic.

Her move definitely affected the running of the race....and she needs to come down. There should be no sentimentality when so much is riding on the outcome.

there wasn't even an inquiry, only an objection. I would love to here the audio of the stewards.

But sadly, I think you are right. A less accomplished horse probably comes down.

Stewards audio..... "what did you lay with Oregon"...."16 1/2, damn I had to lay 17"

I hope that a couple of friends at work who I finally got somewhat interested in the sport weren't watching that race. First question Monday will be " Why didn't they take that horse down?". Jesus, these are poker/football bettors and they will be turned off by sh*t like that real quick.
Just be consistant....if Jerry Rice caused obvious pass interferance, he would be called for it. PR works both way.

So with no NBA this year, horse racing has to pick up the slack?

What?? There's no NBA? Guess I quit watching when dribbling became optional.
