Hope Ender Knevil is worth Johnny V's trip to New Mexico.
It's his only mount of the day, albeit, in a $800K race. :) |
I'm interested to see Princess Arabella. If you watch HRTV most of them seem to think she already won the Oaks.

Is anyone familliar with this track? Is this track favorable for front runners or closers?

I had Isn't He Clever in the top spot and used Daddy Nose Best underneath.
I had nothing. Very nice ride by Joel back here at home. I hope he always has the mount on Bourbon Bay who, of course, I totally forgot to play. I'm glad he won though. Princess Arabella? Wow. |
It'll be interesting to see if Princess Arabella has another run before the Kentucky Oaks. If not, her hype may ensure favoritism in that race, even though all she did today was something already done by On Fire Baby and Grace Hall last year (pummel Glinda The Good by open lengths).
I wonder if Aubby K. can stretch out. No mean feat destroying older horses this early in the year at a top-tier racetrack. |
It was a pretty impressive display of riding by a couple of jocks in there...triggered mostly by the bizzare fact that Bejarano sends every single Baffert horse he rides coming out of the gate..and in many cases he takes a hold of them and tries to settle them about 50 to 75 yards after sending them.
Ender Knievel and Castaway put 5 on the field and breakaway head-to-head through a 22.48 first quarter...both end up beaten more than a dozen lengths. I assume Contreras must have thought those two horses were the only ones he had to beat -- because he pounced on the pair when they tried to steal a mid-race breather. Stirred Up is a plodder's plodder. If they had a future book for 3rd place in the Belmont Stakes ... he'd have a longshot look to join the likes of Thomas Jo, Royal Assault, Nolan's Cat, Tiago, Ready's Echo etc. |
