CONFIRMED: LITF Gone..

Santa Anita-Del Mar Racing Director Ric Hammerle has confirmed to Derby Trail and 'At the Races and Beyond' through West Coast sources that 2005 Sprint Champion Lost in the Fog was euthanized sometime last evening.

No further details were available.

Trainer Greg Gilchrist has understandably not yet returned calls, but has been asked to appear on this evening's edition of ATRAB at 6pm.

Our hearts go out to owner Harry Aleo, Russell Baze, Gilchrist and his staff, and all connected to this gallant young champion whose exploits excited the racing community from coast to coast. He deserved a much better fate..

A sad and unjust ending for this horse and the connections . Heartbreaking news . Gilchrist and Aleo did their best hoping to buy time and comfort for their champion .

When he shall die,
Take him and cut him out in little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night,
And pay no worship to the garish sun.
- Shakespeare

Heaven is brighter..... we lost a champion. This one though... this hurts.

A sad, sad day.

You'll be missed and remembered, and in our hearts always.

Rest in peace.

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.” Washington Irving

So very very sad for all involved.
A warrior and a champion in every sense. RIP LITF...

Thank you for posting the painting Steve "a picture is a poem without words"
