Is Zo Impressive still the best three year old filly in all the land?

Jesus you are relentless.

Apparently, Wildcat's Smile will scratch to run in the Bouwerie on Sunday. Field of four likely to start.

Calzone Lord 06-20-2012 04:15 PM

It's very tough to make any money and beat the toll on 4-horse fields -- but should still be a quality match-up and fun to watch despite how terrible it is as a betting event.

Grade 1 black-type is so valuable for fillies. All they need to do is beat a single horse and they further pad that resume.

I've relented lately.

In this case, his proclomation was really tarded, even for him.

I just love how dry and subtle-yet-not-subtle-whatsoever your shots are if that makes sense.

Thanks.

I get that a lot actually, in real life. People never know when I'm joking or serious.

gamblin4ever 06-20-2012 05:39 PM

Too many graded stakes. They need to shrink it down and don't give trainers so many options to get black type.

i had a girl tell me that before, that she never knew when i was serious/joking. i told her good, that it would keep her on her toes.

She'll look more like it after Saturday. I don't know if she can beat Contested, but if the inside two keep it at all fair, Zo Impressive has a very good chance.

I believe she is better than the Oaks winner. May be a miler though.

David Grening ‏@DRFGrening Dominic Galluscio says Wildcat's Smile will run in Mother Goose. She was not entered for Sunday's Bouwerie. Says it's worth taking a shot.

I dont really see it. Im talking about even running third. I dont like the Oaks winner at all, but shes better then Wildcats Smile for 3rd.

What's with this "Tweedside" race?

Please tell me there are turf stakes races named for Wonder Again, Memories Of Silver, Perfect Arc, Perfect Sting, Soaring Softly, and Auntie Mame as well.

If not, here are some comparable ideas for stakes:

the "Fire Slam" 3yo, 6f main track
the "Jamies First Punch" 3yo, 8.5f main track
the "Friendly Michelle" 3yo F, 6f main track
the "Jilbab" 3yo F, 8.5f main track
the "Anew" 4yo and up, 6f main track
the "Frost Giant" 4yo and up, 8.5f main track
the "Gold Princess" 4yo and up FM, 6f main track
the "Funny Moon" 4yo and up FM, 8.5f main track
the "Timo" 3yo, 8f turf
the "Go Deputy" 4yo and up, 10f turf
the "Argentina" 4yo and up FM, 10f turf

blackthroatedwind 06-22-2012 06:49 PM

You will never get over your Timo obsession.

It's actually kind of sad.

Calzone Lord 06-22-2012 07:23 PM

It is kind of funny that Tweedside has a race named after her. I went back and looked at her record at Belmont.

1st start - Career debut. No lasix. Finished last beaten 20 lengths going 7f for Pletcher.

2nd start - Won the Sands Point -- race was rained off the turf. Beat 3 other rivals. Tommy Turner rode even money favorite Platinum Tiara.

3rd start - Won Coaching Club American Oaks by 7+ lengths at 10/1 odds. Chris McCarron fell off of the 4-to-5 favorite Starrer at the start. Everyone else couldn't get the 12 furlongs.

4th start - Tweedside makes her Belmont Park turf debut in the Flower Bowl. She did not finish the race at odds of 31/1. "Tired, eased in stretch" Laline, England's Legend, and Starine 1-2-3 in a strong edition.

5th start - Tweedside wins the Sheepshead Bay by a nose. Sweetest Thing and Golden Corona beaten a nose in 3-way photo finish for the win.

6th and final start at BEL - Tweedside 5th of 7 in the New York Handicap. She was 4/1. The highweight in the race was the Darrel Vienna trained Janet -- who was shipping in off of a 2nd place finish at Bay Meadows in the Yerba Buena.

Tweedside was 3-2-0-0 on the BEL dirt and 3-1-0-0 on the BEL turf.

Maybe the plan is for the race to be rained off of the turf like her Sands Point.

It is odd that they named a turf stake after her for 3yo fillies when she never even won on the BEL turf at age 3 and her first stakes win on turf didn't come until her 4yo season.
