Good timing on the claim of Delaunay. He's been haltered 5 times this year.

I know Mitchell does not leave Cali to often, but would just love to see Potesta go to Saratoga this summer. Stay away from the Turf n Surf and head to The Spa!

$300,000 Grade 1 won with a 94 Beyer, yet somehow only five horses were entered. This ducking epidemic has become absurd.

Anyone know what maiden debut winner Distracting got on Saturday at Hollywood?

Absolutely crushed after pressing the pace. Very well-bred. The runner-up was a late-running half-sister to Giacomo and Tiago, also making her debut.

Might be a filly considered for the Test if she can keep the ball rolling against winners.

Just finished reading this. Are you kidding me...The Torrey Pines? Well it's his horse and has the right to do as he feels is right for the filly.

While on the subject of Baffert's, from Friday night...

BHP Alw60 (6.5f): Capital Account 106 (Closing Argument) B. Baffert/D. Flores

He's your proverbial 'ouchy' type, but quite zippy when right. Now 4 for 7 with 4 100+ BSF's. Debuted at HOL in '10 with a 104.

Thanks. Yeah, that was a fairly solid allowance race, at least in terms of back class. I didn't see the race, but from the chart it appears Sahara Sky was completely eliminated at the break. That's an up-and-coming horse. He might be a decent late running sprinter.

Actually, Mitchell said today on ATR that Potesta will run in the Torrey Pines and then the to-be-renamed Lady's Secret ahead of the Distaff.

The headline and article were contradictory, which became clear if you read the story.

I'm wondering if we really should be considering Potesta a major contender for the BC Distaff off the basis of a desperate head-bob win over Eden's Moon, perhaps the most disappointing of Baffert's many disappointing 3yo fillies this year.

It's also curious that if she's top class and going to run at Del Mar, why not run in the Clement Hirsch, a Grade 1 that is open to older horses? The Vanity locally was won in a huge upset by perrennial also-ran Lovethewayyouare, who is probably going out of town for her next start anyways. Ron Ellis's Include Me Out is probably unlikely to waste time on the Polytrack, too, in advance of the BC.

The 3YO fillies in CA this year are historically awful. I'm in no hurry to consider her a contender for the BC Distaff.

Luckily for her sake, Sadler basically finished off Zazu and the chances of Include Me Out pulling a Vision in Gold soon and heading to the sidelines are solid.

Mitchell said he wanted to take advantage of straight 3yo's another time before facing elders.

Guilty of not reading the final paragraph. I think she's a very nice filly, and should only improve. Right now i would think that the 3yo filly division is waiting for someone to step up.
