12/20: Gulfstream Park (5th-9th)

Despite a good day overall Wednesday, came away from Gulfstream action bitterly disappointed with my tentative approach to the P5/P4 that left more than $8k on the table. Had no trouble identifying the winners in the eminently hittable sequences, but decision to spend $48 instead of $72 on the P4 cost $1,300 when Jay Eye See won the the 7th. The P5 paid a crazy $7k and a more aggressive attack had obvious potential to access it. The upside is there was a myriad of exotics and multis laid out and I was pleased to hear from a few people that scored well on the afternoon. Thursday sequence was a little less interesting in the handicapping process, but you never know. Hope you did well yesterday!

GULFSTREAM PARK

POST-SCRATCHES

NOTE: REMEMBER THAT GULFSTREAM IS OFFERING .50 TRIFECTAS!

6th: OC/N1X, 2yo, 5f-T/0' (P4, P3, DD)

Next Best: #2 Late SCR
Exotics Use: #10 Sayaad 5-1 5th

7th: MSW, 2yo-F, 6f (P3, DD)

As discussed with Mike Welsch, several well-bred types here working very nicely for debut (Highestmaintenance, Fiorelli) or 2nd outing in the case of Gadget Girl. Five of the 9 seem capable..

Most Likely: #6 Cheyenne Autumn 4-1 9th
Next Best: #3 Highestmaintenance 5-2 WON ($5.60)

Flaxman & Graham Motion offer 2nd time starter & Aruna half brother Pontus (Harlan's Holiday) up for $35k here. Don't see how that is construed as a positive..

Best Value: #1 Tubal 8-1 3rd
Next Best: #5 Pontus 6-1 5th
Exotics Use: #3 Boy of Summer 6-1 WON ($9.60)

Thanks Steve. Very lucky as I thought it was Bocachicas horse that would blow it up and ended up way back. Gotta be lucky to survive. Great capping as always and that BIG BIG score is coming for you, been to damn close lately.

Happy Holidays!

Nice Job Steve! I was particularly interested in seeing Half Heaven's first foal win so convincingly at first asking.
What a mare Sand Pirate was, producing HH, Sweet Vendetta (Black Eyed Susan winner) and 400K winning NY staple Love Cove. No surprise that the apple didn't fall far from the tree.

Again Steve you did a great job handicaping the races.Again every race had red in it. After running your numbers in P3s, I had one signer, the other payed $570, the other $100 and the first was $27. Again thanks for the good info.

Dave.. Thanks and my pleasure. Was a nice day that again had potential to be insane. One P5 winner for that $61k... Good work rolling the P3's. The $1,200 sweet. Will try again tomorrow!

Thx Dan. After yesterday's dreadful effort from the Melnyk Speightstown/Tweedside baby, I wasn't sure what to expect.. Was he going to want longer? Grass? It's weird. When I really try to rely on these Pletcher cadillacs, I feel like I get burned. In both directions.. for or against.
