First time at Saratoga

My wife and I are going to Saratoga for the first time on Jim Dandy Day. We scalped clubhouse tickets on ebay so we have seats. I want to take in the atmosphere and make sure I see all there is to see. I am not concerned about the betting angles just want to enjoy our first visit. Any tips pointers or must see from the vets on the board would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Early morning workouts! A must at 7 am. Can get breakfast there trackside or bring your own. Mary Ryan keeps you updates who's on the track.

Racing museum! Even if you don't stay in Saratoga - take thr time to walk up and down Broadway. Grab a drink and browse the shops and art galleries.

view the horses in the paddock before they go out on the track for their race.
pass on drinking the water at the red spring

:tro::tro:

Include a visit to the Oklahoma training track across the street as well.

And since you have clubhouse seats you need to do a thorough walk-thru of the backyard area. Or better yet visit the paddock every race and take the long way back to your seats.

IMO this is as close to horseracing heaven there is.

Just to echo a few people here, Saratoga in the early morning is awesome.

Yes they offer breakfast at the track, but we usually being a big coffee, grab a seat in the stands and take it all in.
