Horseman blame NYRA for VLT Delays
What a surprise. More incompetence from NYRA. As long as NYRA continues to claim they own the land, they will never get the bid.
http://news.bloodhorse.com/viewstory.asp?id=35658 Horsemen's Group Blames NYRA for VLT Delays by Tom Precious Date Posted: 10/5/2006 5:01:07 PM Last Updated: 10/5/2006 5:02:52 PM The New York Racing Association is to blame for the delays in state approvals needed to begin construction on the long-stalled Aqueduct casino project, the leaders of the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association claim. |

My agenda is I don't like corruption. Sure Empire is Magna and Churchills group but the horseman are correct. As they stated
"We have tried to work cooperatively with NYRA for the past four years since its indictment. In fact, had we chosen to attack NYRA for its repeated misuse and misappropriation of horsemen's money and instituted legal proceedings, we could have ended NYRA's tenure much sooner" NYRA and its corrupt leaders need to go. There is no reason backstretch workers should have to live in such terrible conditions either. If NYRA wasn't so corrupt, maybe they would have some nice dorms like they do at Gulfstream Park. |
That is a genuinely funny article. Failing to disclose Richard Bomze's close relationship with Empire Racing, while defining him as the head of the horsemen's group, is outright irresponsible journalism. Anybody that knows anything about the situation, which disqualifies the originator of this thread, can clearly see this for what it is. It is just more posturing by Empire to attempt to present NYRA in a bad light. The fact that their spokesman in this case is Richard Bomze, who was last heard telling ( and writing ) absolute lies regarding the meeting NYRA executives held with the NY horsemen in Saratoga, speaks volumes about Empire's lack of substance. One would think a group seeking to run racing in NY could find a better mouthpiece than this inconsequential prevaricator.
Not surprisingly this garbage has attracted its intended audience, in this case the least knowledgable member of this board, in the same way that feces attract flies. |
Nostra is a knownothing.

Steve, whoever Tom Precious is, hes a complete idiot.
How could this imbecile write this article and not disclose that Bomze is one of the head guys with Empire? Are you ****ing kidding me? This is just nonsense, pure and simple nonsense. The bloodhorse just hit a new journalistic low, and I don't care WHO you know over there Steve, they should actually write an apology for allowing a clearly ridiculous article like that to be posted or written without and editor reviewing it and making the guy point out who and what Bomze is. This may be the biggest piece of garbage article I've ever read, and I've read a lot of them. I urge everyone to read this piece of filth, and then email the editor and ask him if it was the janitor who approved this. |

Gee I found this article as well when I googled it up. Guess Mr Tom Precious just coiincidentally happens to write about all the Bomze press release type articles huh? Gee who would have guessed. Anyone else here see someting pretty funny here? |
Nos..
I have capping to do, so I don't care to get into a long discussion over this, but to start with, there's no one at NYRA that has anything to do with what went on under the previous administrations. Don't hold Hayward-Dunker-Nader accountable for what went on 15, 10, 5 years ago. The "indictment" is moot by the way.. a non-issue. It was a defered prosecution... NYRA met the requirements of the Federal Government, and the indictment was dropped. They also totally satisfied EVERY requirement laid out by Getnick & Getnick, the court-appointed administrators. As to "corruption", I'll tell you straight out that Albany, and the crumbums there, had EVERYTHING to do with whatever nefariousness may have occured over the years. THEY were sucking off the NYRA teet harder than ANYONE. There has been tremendous progress made under the current group of NYRA managers towards improving anything and everything that constitutes quality in running racing at the 3 enormous facilities. It is insane to "throw the baby out with the bath water" now... especially into the hands of a group that has PROVEN they are fiscally IRRESPONSIBLE... Just ask any CDI or MEC "shareholder"... If you want to pay $50 to see the Belmont or Travers, from the infield, or $250 from the grandstand, keep pushing for a "for profit" entity... And that's the tip of the iceberg in terms of what you'll be paying for. We as fans are far better off with a NYRA heavily supervised by soon-to-be Gov. Spitzer than ANYTHING else that greedily crawls out from under their rocks claiming they can "run" NY racing. |
Richard Bomze is a clown
|
He may be a clown, but thats a cool name, Dick Bomze. I would love to have that name.
