LVRJ: Vegas Sportsbooks ride Hawks wave

Sports books ride Seahawks all the way to bank
http://www.reviewjournal.com/columns...s-all-way-bank

If this game pitted the sharps against the squares, it was a one-sided slaughter of the public. The Seattle Seahawks, who got a majority of the sharp action, stuck it to Denver 43-8 on Sunday in the type of Super Bore that launched the proliferation of proposition bets.

But.. About the safety...

Will there be a safety? The “yes” side cashed, for the third consecutive year, at plus-550. The first scoring play of the game being a Seattle safety paid off 50-1 to 60-1 odds. The first score of the game being anything other than a touchdown returned plus-150. Add up the three results, Bogdanovich said, and his books took about a $140,000 loss.

Every square I knew was on the Broncos, every sharp on the Seahawks....so not surprised.

Every Douche I know is pounding their chests about their great call this morning... Up until then... Crickets.

Surely you aren't saying that to me. But yes unless people put money where mouth is it is meaningless

I picked Seattle on this website before the season. I said 10 days before kickoff that I was playing Seattle heavy. Ultimate get out for the shitty year. I'll tell you now a year ahead of time..... Seattle repeats and I'm putting half of my winnings on them from last night on them to win it all at 5-1.

I don't think anyone repeats anymore...whole different era

As Bob says that would be a flat out awful bet. Teams do not repeat anymore sometimes they don't even make the playoffs/ Good call on Seattle though.

Lots of good Week 1 Match ups for the NFL opener in Seattle"

Here are Seattle's eight home opponents: Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Rams, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, and Oakland Raiders.

Eventually this team has to lose some guys. Everyone on that D gets paid eventually. But not this year. They will bring back almost the same team. With a healthy Percy who proved how valuable he is last night. I think these guys play with a huge chip. Wilson, Sherman, Chanceller none of them first or second round picks. All hungry. I think they will be better. Plus they have the NFC east next year. Worst division in the NFL. Only real competition would be a healthy GB and Rodgers. I think San Fran is great, but Seattle does everything they do, but better.

Seattle is 7 points better then all of them at home, except San Fran and a healthy Packer team.

I think it is much harder than you think to repeat. 5-1 isn't enough of a price for me. But I agree the NFC is likely to be pretty dominate again next year.

Doubt it will be SF as they are opening a new park and will probably request a home opener. I'd say either GB or Denver..

god..I'm pathetic...contemplating Seattle's opponent 7 months from now:zz:

Pitchers and Catchers anyone?

On the road to Carolina, KC (2nd best Home Field Advantage), Philly? SD? plus their own division. That's a tough schedule to possibly win home field advantage again.

I doubt either team does better than 3rd place in their own divisions.

My brother just returned from Vegas. He said that the wise-guys were all over the Hawks. One of his many side wagers on Seattle was for a defensive shutout which would have paid huge....

On SAT, he also ran into Toby Keith at the Wynn's Sports book and bet on his maiden "Retro Ridge" who paid $44.80 to win....

Careful, you don't want to be labeled a douche for having the right side.

Don't worry ...I usually lose enough to make up for the big wins....

Tebow would have gave Denver a much better chance. The run first QBs have hurt Seattle.
