Cruzan has selected Del Mar, so off we go to where the turf meets the surf, for an 11 race card that features the Pacific Classic.

We will also be playing Race 9 at Saratoga, the historic Grade 1 Alabama Stakes, which should feature a match up of Midnight Bisou and Talk Veuve to Me (an idle question - if I asked someone to Talk Veuve to Me, what would she likely say?)

I like your thinking, Ruff, but her name doesn't include "verve", but "veuve", which I think comes from the French for widow. The only time I've ever come across the word was on the label of Veuve Cliquot, a popular French Champagne. It got that name when Mr. Cliquot died and his widow took over the winery, thus the reference to the widow Cliquot. That's why I was so curious about the meaning of the name.
