Was going back and forth between Laurel and Woodbine. Thanks to JolyB for the information that due to the hurricane Laurel is rescheduling their stakes day for Sept 22. So, Woodbine it is! Hopefully they have good weather.

WHY THEY NAMED A STAKES TURF RACE WITH HIS NAME
INSTEAD OF A 3-YR DIRT RACE IN MEMORY OF THE BELMONT / TC :confused:

He was probably a better turf horse than dirt.
In that one race, any other horse could have been crowned turf horse of the year by winning it. That's not just my opinion, I've seen it in print. He came, he saw, he conquered. 🤴
