Steve Davidowitz passes
Noted racing author Davidowitz dead at age 77
|
Saddened by the news. His Betting Thoroughbreds is the greatest written stream of consciousness on handicapping and wagering ever. A classic racetrack character, Steve was a quixotic, bombastic and wonderfully engaging contributor to ATR for many years and he leaves a lasting positive impression on the approach of countless horseplayers..
|
Well said Steve. His writing was very astute. It came at a time people were starting to write about handicapping, but I found his writing just excellent. Also anytime he spoke. RIP to a horseplayer.

R.I.P., good sir.

Before the days of the internet I grew up reading every racing book I could get my hands on. Betting on the Thoroughbreds was one of the best and sadly the last chapter has been written. Rest in Peace Mr. Davidowitz. You and your words will never be forgotten.

Excellent author. I read both the original and updated Betting Thoroughbreds. He also appeared in one of the DRF handicapping conferences that I have on disc and he made a very insightful presentation.
Rest in peace. His work will continue to inspire others. |
Imagine two horse players sitting on a bench at Saratoga an the impact they would later have on this game.
Steve's paperback "green" book was like a bible to me in my early years of handicapping. His chapter on the various level within a class was like finding gold in my backyard. RIP, Steve...and thanks for the years of great reading and listening. |
