Anyone else psyched for the Spa?

Hard to believe that tomorrow will be Opening Day of the Saratoga season. I don't remember it ever starting this early in July. The season seems to get expanded a little more each year. Still a meet of 40 racing days, but this year they are spread over 8 weeks, 5 days per week, with Monday and Tuesday dark.

I'm still eagerly awaiting the opportunity to get up extra early and read the Saratoga Special with my morning coffee and then a little after 1:00 PM to be able to watch the track announcer work the crowd and get them to chant in unison, "And they're off at Saratoga!"

Spend at least a week every year at Saratoga!!! Camp out at Saratoga Lake...party at night & study the Racing Form!!! Next day at the track. It's only a 4 hour drive from my house!!! Love it!!!

If I have properly identified your home location, you must have a delightful drive through the Adirondack Park on your way to Saratoga. Since you are approaching from the opposite direction, you just have to amend the famous Red Smith quotation when he said, "to get to Saratoga, you drive North for 175 miles, turn Left onto Union Avenue and go back 100 years."

One of the most wonderful places on earth. Patty and I visited Saratoga as often as we could even living in Texas. Wasn't cheap to get there but when we did, we felt like we had arrived in Heaven on Earth. The horses thundering around the track was then the music of Angels singing.
