Selection analysis for Turfway

I thought instead of leaving things open-ended, I would begin to apply defined mythical wagers to my selections so as to have a benchmark.

Instead of picking and chosing different plays from the selections I decided to simply apply the same mythical wagers against all of my posted selections.

So, four horses were selected in each race. The wagers will be as follows;
$1 exacta box - cost $12 per race
$1 trifecta box - cost $24 per race
$1 super box - cost $24 per race
$1 double box - cost $16 per race
$1 Pick 3 box - cost $64 per race
$1 Pick 4 box - cost $256 per race

So applying this same betting scheme to each of the five days that I posted Turfway selections, here is the profit summary;

December 28 ($1,510) loss
December 29 ($1,439) loss
December 30 $5,325
December 31 ($1,285) loss
January 1 $1,697

Five day total $2,788 profit on $9,400 wagered

Of course no one should wager in a mechanical way like this. I chose to judge my selections in this way since I think it is probably the toughest test you could apply.

I am going to keep a running log like this and see what happens. I suspect that over time it will be extremely hard to maintain the positive profit. We’ll see.

Nice job Jim. You're doing well with a track that's tough to 'cap not only because of the poly but the 12 horse fields. Good job.

Thanks todko

Believe it or not the poly I don't mind, in fact I prefer it.

Now the large fields of cheaper horses, that is something that I really do find challenging. It keeps you on your toes so to speak.
