Royal Ascot Wednesday June 20th
Race 1:
#1 Chelsea Cloisters: Ward has two wins and a second in the last three renewals of this race. Filly aptly named for the occasion.
#17 Shades of Blue: Connections won this last year and she looked smart winning over the course and distance on her debut.
#15 Second Generation: Backed up from a troubled debut with a smashing win 10 days later.
#14 Red Balloons: Maiden ran well when not getting the best of trips. Can see her getting a slice.
Race 2:
#11 Stream of Stars
#9 Southern France
#2 Drapers Guild
#5 Kew Gardens
Race 3:
#10 Urban Fox: Has generally run her best races on flat tracks so no surprise to see her win over this course and distance with a big weight on her first start for the new barn. Showed promise at times last season and doesn't meet the strongest field here.
#1 Hydrangea: Consistent filly can easily go one better second-up here, but has to do it with a slight weight penalty. She also might prefer it longer and with a bit of moisture.
#2 Promising Run: Best races of late have been in Dubai, but she hasn't gotten favourable conditions in her last few UK runs (all-weather track, soft track, 12f, etc).
#3 Aljazzi
Race 4:
#2 Cracksman: Doesn't seem to appreciate the quirky Epsom course and looks the most likely winner of the whole week if he runs to his best.
#6 Poet's Word
#4 Eminent
Race 5:
#27 Kynren
#8 Tricorn
#18 Cape Byron
#19 Raising Sand
Would have put #12 in the top four if he had a better recent winning record...
Race 6:
#2 Glorious Journey: Just touched off by subsequent French Derby 4th and 2nd, respectively. Cutsback to 7f with the shades on.
#8 Emaraaty: Closed well under the big weight in a strong handicap last out.
#7 Brother Bear: Looks a good overlay if you can get past his poor runs last autumn.
#17 Symbolization
Good luck!
