That's very nice. However, the rain that has fallen already caused flooding of subway stations in New York City yesterday and led to a rainout by the Mets at Citi Field last night. Today's races at Belmont have all been taken off of the turf.
By Saturday the storm will have moved far out to sea, but the turf courses will have absorbed a lot of moisture and unlike a baseball field, you can't put down a tarp. The ground crew at the NYRA tracks do a wonderful job getting the track ready for racing, but they will have their work cut out for them to have the turf courses ready for all of Saturday's races. I'm handicapping all of the races except the Belmont Oaks and the Belmont Derby with the strong possibility that they will not remain on the turf. I hope that I'm proven wrong
