You are giving him WAY too much credit.
For a jockey, Bailey was as big a student of the game as anyone.
The vast majority of jockies are mongoloid's who habitually under prepare and repeat the same mistakes over and over.
To Bailey's credit---he was
the very rare jockey who had developed handicapping skills...and almost always seemed well prepared.
To make him out to be an authority on handicapping---as his DVD ads do--that's
a little bit comical.
However, he was just about as good as jockies get...and I also think he does a pretty good job as a broadcaster.
